Shootout 3 hrs
this is my three hours project, you must controll a small space ship and shoot the enemies with the lazers and missiles.

fight through the waves of enemies, and earn a place on the high scores.

the controls are:

left mouse button: lazers

right mouse button: missiles

mouse move: move (stops if it is inside the movement ring)

the log of the three hours is included in the zip.

-small

Took me a while to realise those little yellow things are powerups, and not space mines!

hmmmmmm people seem to be making games with weird music lately...
the explosions look awesome! some good particle effects!
the game play seemed a little lacking... if my ship is going to be constantly moving, so should the enemies...
overall... 6/10

(try to make your own highscore table, it just looks better, m'kay?)

@Ferret what do you mean constantly moving? and please note that this was a THREE HOURS PROJECT

Liked help, not highscores
Didn't like that you called vulcan missiles lasers
Low variety in enemies
While this is better than the other attempts at a GF10K, this still could of been best left to be improved. I think people need to understand that a project like this needs a simple idea that works with simple mechanics

Which was your choice, you could've spent longer on it if you wanted, don't get mad when someone gives you a low score.

ANYWAY, the music was weird alright, but there was none in game, just on the menu. The concept is pretty basic, but it works. The effects were actually pretty nice. There was unfortunately only ONE enemy, which made the game get repetitive, which it counters by making you die so fast. Sounds fit well into the game. The graphics were okay, but there were very few sprites for different things. The only progress in difficulty is more of the same enemy. T'was okay for three hours, but overall it was pretty average.

Gameplay: 6.75/10
Graphics: 8/10
Sound/Music: 7/10
Overall: 7/10

For a 3-hour game, I think it's pretty polished. The enemy sprites were sloppy, but the particle effects were nice. Music is good, a little too high-pitched for my liking, but didn't really fit the game. Something a little more fast-paced, maybe, since it's sort of an arcade game. The movement was fine, but I expected the player's speed to be depending on how far away the mouse was. The in-game cursor thing was an eyesore, it's a little too big as well, I think. I would give it a 7, but since you did this in only a few hours, I'll give an 8 :P

That it was made in three hours doesn't make it a better game. It only makes it harder to make. Anyways, I found the handling a little hard but the rest of the game was okay. Ill rate it a 6

What's everbody's craving for making a 3-hours game????
Anyway it's quite good for a game made in such a short period of time. I only didn't like the control of the spaceship. Nor the music.

But anyway still 8/10 because of the particle effects and the general quilitay of the game (considering that it's made in 3 hours)

Music was odd, but that's been addressed. The control style was very interesting and I had to say I liked the particles. The enemy AI was very unintelligent, however, and they would crash into the borders of the screen.

The gameplay was also a bit lacking, as there was only one type of enemy. Other than that, not bad for three hours.

7/10

Awwwww it's ok! We have to defend ourselves sometimes, and it sounds a lot different when it's all out on text...
