KaBlog #whatever

Wow has it been a while! I won't lie, I've started typing out probably a dozen different blogs over the past few years but deleted them all before I posted them. I do keep my old game collection blog fairly up to date though so I've not completely neglected this place. <-OK why do links always do weird visual things when I post here. But my job and various life things have kept me fairly burnt out and as a result I've not put enough effort into any of my projects to accomplish anything notable. Also my old laptop died a very slow death and until I replaced it I was mostly incapable of working on computer stuff for 90% of the day.

My YouTube channels are still going and I've been following a new years resolution of posting at least 1 video a day. They aren't high quality videos but the channel is never going to get enough subscribers to get remonetized if I keep taking multi-month breaks so this is a good way of forcing me to stick to something. I've definitely gotten a lot better at it over the years but my audience is still people who like unedited playthroughs with occasional mild humor so growing is tough.  The fact that Nintendo is finally open game for monetization is definitely helping motivate me though.

The biggest thing that has changed since the last blog is that I've started to create an entire fictional universe for a franchise of games I call Pyco Mundi. Basically, Pyco Mundi follows the story of an alternate earth where an alien creature from a dying world called Pyco arrives on Earth during the ice age and the energy it brings with it begins to slowly turn animals into pokemon-like creatures called Pycotrophs. Yeah, this is what I'm turning Pokemon Twilight into because I don't see the point in making a game that Nintendo will just cease and desist.

I've always like doing some small scale world building but I'm really enjoying building an entire universe and trying to justify and explain why things are the way they are. This is something I've unknowingly been building up to over the past 10 years of my life and it's finally coming together.  The thought of someday releasing this game on a Nintendo system is also pretty amazing and a lot more motivating than making a pokemon fan game is. There's not much to actually show yet, I'm basically building all the concepts of the game before I start building the game itself.

But yeah, that is what is up with me.

Understandable. The makers of Freedom Planet did this with their Sonic clone and it turned out to be pretty successful. Good luck!
