New Site up and.... F#$% it broke again?!

Hey guys hope this blog finds you all well, as the title implies I have been hard at work making my new website. Well the honest answer is actually I have been trying to learn while I create the site, at the same time and I have found that that is the best recipe for breaking you site multiple times!
The worst part of it all is me forgetting to back up the site before making changes (yes I know n00b mistake) and then everything breaks and I have to start over with what I have left. All the above being said I have learnt allot about HTML, CSS and PHP in the last 3 months but I don't claim to be an expert at all, but it is very interesting how things have changed since the last time I made webpage(s) that being when HTML 3 was still in rotation and PHP and CSS was still a dream. I don't want to ramble on and en up with a huge blog so without further delay I present www.digimecha.com PS. There might still be a few bugs, feel free to spam about them if you want and I will fix them when I get time. PSS. Any suggestions welcome!
First real blog... yippee

So I wanted to write a longish blog now for the past while instead of just lurking the whole time and it seems finally my time has come.
(Just before the real blog starts one question, why is it that when you have this amazing blog planned out the moment you start typing it falls from your thoughts? - 64digits mind altering code maybe?) The image of the books on top is the main reason for the blog, I ordered them a month ago and about 2 weeks back they arrived, thus I have started studying, I do have a good grasp on C++ but holy crap those books It is fun learning about game design and architecture but it involves a lot of math witch was not my strongest subject when I was younger, still I haven't hit a snag yet so yippee! My dream is still to make games for a living and I'm trying my hardest to study and work towards that, sometimes my day job just eats all my time and that frustrates the heck out of me. On a semi related note I have also started practicing my pixel art but I feel it's not good enough to parade in front of any one yet. does any one else here just get sucked in by truly beautiful pixel art and that just inspires your soul to create some of your own? (maybe its just me though) And the last tidbit on my mind is my book that I have started writing a while back and then abandoned seems to be coming back to me in strange ways these day, most of my friends want me to continue to write it but I haven't given anyone outside of my group of friends it to read so I'm wondering if it is good or not. Well those are my most current thoughts and actions, thank you for reading if you did get this far

Sandman update

So I've had yesterday and today off and was busy programming the whole time, to be honest today was a bit more productive on the visual side of the game and yesterday was more skeleton work lol. So without any further delay here are a few screen shots.
The whole map class was up to shit the first compile - Then I figured out my whole co ordinate system in OpenGL was up side down - Yip still trying to figure out the fucking coordinate system SDL and OpenGL don't like each other very much - Ok got it semi correct lol, top right tiles are markers please ignore - Then my wife finished some of the housing tiles she has been working on and put them together for an example, I like em Then for now I imported the tiles and did some building I also got the place holder for the player moving towards the mouse but the mouse isn't visible in the screenshot for now, the map system still has a few big bugs but hopefully that will be sorted tomorrow (still have one day off from work). My wife is still busy making sprites so hopefully more news by Sunday. PS. I still love this smiley
Stuck at work

So here is another random thought, I'm stuck at work with no pc acess in site and getting more and more frustrated at people expecting me to like work and stuff. So I was pondering how fessible it would be to make a simple IDE for android phones as I'm using one to write this blog of randomness and use it to program on the phone but then again how would one test the windows app on said android phone. A well back to "work".

Here are a few expressions my wife has put together so far for the character Nightmare in the game.
![]() ![]() ![]() and as promised a short description: After the previous Sandman disappears you are chosen as the new one but without a mentor there is no one to teach you how to be the sandman and thus you have to learn each skill on your own, as you learn these new skills you also start to learn what happened to your predecessor and of the nightmares walking alongside you in the darkness. So how is it looking?

Was just playing around with blender to see if I can come up with a logo for the RPG we are gona enter for the Comp, It's called Sandman and alot more details are comming later after I'm completely done with the Design Document but for now just a little logo fun.

Well now I had a look at the site and I have to say the community looks very friendly and structured, I was never really involved with the community till now that is. Always a good reason to start ranting and raving about random stuff you encounter while making your own game and then post it on the net :D.
The blogs on this site for now will be centered around the creation of the game my wife and I are going to enter into the RPG4D 2012 Comp starting on the 1st of May, this will be our first RPG and I hope we make a great success of it :). Well till later got some planning to do and Coffey to drink lol :P. Ps. If you where wondering the DigiMecha logo is for my site I'm currently working on and will be using for main post about all the games I have made and will be making in the future.
