I haven't touched GM in years

Luckily it's still running. After 3 years, game programming as a career is definitely not a thing I want to do anymore (web/app dev is a lot of fun). GM is still fun to mess around with. Secret blog is secret.

They hatin'....
Anywho, like many 64D members, i'm going to college :D To be more specific, i'm off to UC Riverside to study computer science. Yeah, pretty much the same major everyone is taking. I also bought a new/cheap laptop for school. It's the Toshiba Satellite L645D-S4036 and i'm liking it so far.

I still have a few weeks before I start school so, in order to do something productive, I entered a GM competition over at GMG. The competition ends right before I go to school which is somewhat perfect. I picked trash-based, side-scrolling, survival game. Screenshot:

I also need some help. I'm still working on Seven (also known as this):

I feel kinda stuck gameplay wise. So far it's just a generic platformer. I really can't think of any gameplay ideas. Can you guys help me come up with some interesting.....stuff? I've come up with some awesome boss ideas but other than that bleh. The story: Your grandpa gets kidnapped, you go after him, you find him, turns out he's a fake and you were just an experiment (the 7th one, like the matrix plus one), they try to destroy you, you win (or lose?). Not really a writer :/ Here's a demo of the game (not really just you jumping and stuff, has some bugs):

So Twinsoul gave me the idea to create a game in two hours and so I did......kinda. It took me more like 3 hours and 30 minutes to make but whatever......point is it's done. Not the greatest game but it was the only thing I could think of.

with my "2" hour game......I'll update this in a few minutes.

Edit: too late at night here.....i'll upload tomorrow morning.

Edit: Already 3 hours into it e.e almost done...added new monsters.

If JW did it, then I can do it. Felt like showing a screenshot of my wip (it isn't a mockup, you can actually move and attack). At first my game was going to be about fighting pure bosses but I felt I wouldn't have enough time to actually complete that idea by the deadline so I made it into a regular platformer, or did I?

So here are a few things I need to do:
-make more levels
-give different deaths to main character (depends on what kills him)
-different weapons
-more enemies
-add more craziness to the boss battle

Thats it. Also, more game blogs plz.

TODAY IS MY B-DAY. GET ME A COOKIE
Yup, been lurking around the site for a few months now without posting any blogs or comments :D Throughout that time I managed to:

-Finish my school year
-Pick up pixel art
-Got a new banner (inspired by eagly ;)
-Close to completing 2 years here in 64D.

So I've been trying to pixel for the past few days and came up with these:



GM wise I've been meaning to create some kind of mini game just to make something. Still working on my other WIPS.

Recently there has been a few things in this site that have made me laugh ( OL's hate list). One thing that really caught my eye was the different hit counters users have (funniest one thus far is PY's). So thanks for the laughs.

As stated above, today is my 16th birthday so get me a cookie or die ^_^

Recently I've had some time to open up GM and at least make some sprites for a few games never seen before. This leads me to the body of my blog:

5 reasons why I never finish a game
1. Each time I do start working on a game as soon as I make something new for it I always get the urge to open up another game and start working on that.

2. Usually school, sports, and homework take up most of my time.

3. I always think of new ideas I want to try.

4. I have trouble concentrating on one thing.

5. I have SSBB, which is awsome.

Here is a list of games I hope to finish some day.

1) Project: Blue
I really want to create this game and give it my full attention after I finish another game. This is an loz type of game. Screenshot:


2) In The Dark
A small project in which you( the little guy with the gun) must destroy all the dark enemies in the room to bring back the light. Screenshot:


3) Monster Gun Siege
Okay, this game is being made for the VGNG comp at TIGSource. Though I'm not sure if i'll finish it by the time the comp finishes but I am planning to release it.


4) Squidus
This must be the most experimental games i'm planning to create. It's going to be an adventure game.


So yeah, thats it. Nothing about my life.
