Lost my #1 download badge, heh, + self plugs
Posted on June 25, 2008 at 01:03
Not that I really care, just needed something to put that people would actually click ;)
But yeah although I own everything by 2k+ downloads, I lost it cause it's wip, meh, boring. Anyway just updating those wondering what's happening with me. We can say that my engine is dead now. I know it got major download counts everywhere but I was tired of working on it and there were some other engines better than mine anyway (in term of actually creating a game that is). Mine was pretty just an experiment where people could learn from it. Never thought someone would actually make a complete game from it and it did never happen (as far as I know) although everyone were amaze on how similar to the original it was. (I can't count how many people on youtube told me I hacked the original game to fake the video heh) Someone is currently tweaking my engine to turn in into a mario bros 3 builder though. I'm quite amazed of the early result actually. You should check it out. http://www.yoyogames.com/games/show/39115 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybyW1x0q1-0 Anyway, for now I'm currently on youtube, trying different stuffs. I don't know for how long it will last but for now I enjoy it. I'm currently playing a game called La-Mulana, uploading a video once in a while. The game is quite good, never played such an interesting and challenging free game in a while. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WML2Iz8ZUYI I've also recorded a few of my creation for fun. Like these and some more: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jn9U9Glr830 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isODlMtIEU0 Oh well, I don't know if I'll ever rewrite here so just one last thing. Just want to say thanks to those who showed interest in the engine. It was great. Anyway, peace.
1500 downloads + new stuffs coming
Posted on April 13, 2007 at 19:32
First of all, I'm happy to see that my engine got to 1500 downloads todays. I really want to thanks all people who tried it. I'm also writting this to say to tell people to not worry, that the engine is still in development. You should expect to see some new stuffs soon. There is relatively a lot of things that have been done since the last version. So far what I can say that this engine will include:
*unregistered users friendly *fully functional map screen *fully functional raccoon suit system *Working slopes, thanks a lot to turdfuguson who did most of the job for me *improved camera system *fully functional score system with score increment and 1up *red koopa and near perfect paragoomba *A level 1 identical to the original game (for comparison purpose ;)) *Working p-switches *And many minor fixes such as sprites animations that weren't correct and some little fixes in the engine to make it even more perfect Well, it might not seem like a lot to some, but I actually worked a lot on it compared to what I used to. Remember that I don't always have the time for that but that I really want to finish it. Also the fact that I wanted everything as close to the original that I could, didn't help either. So, I think I should be able to release a new version soon, like in 2 weeks or maybe less. I'll try to make a video of the current gameplay in the next few days. Be sure to check it out. edit: oh, here my youtube account http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=djrelllik <a href="javascript: add_friend('djrellik')" class="no_underline" id="friend_cmd"><img src="../images/plus.gif" style="border: 0px none ;"> click me :(</a>
My Mario Bros 3 Open Source Engine is released
Posted on January 19, 2007 at 20:02
Yeah I finally decided to stop working on the game to make it an open source engine again. Take a look at my game showcase, I updated the link of the game for the engine.
Well since someone complained the last time I wrote something because it was too short, here the info directly from the game page. Ok, I'm changing the whole topic. I finally decided to turn it to an open source again. Well, for those that never heard of that project. I first started it as an open source engine, it was at the beginning of 2004 and it got to version 5.1, at the end of 2004 when I decided to stop working on it. Well for a while... I then restarted to work on it and I turned it into a game. During this time I have improved or recoded almost everything and converted it to gm6. But now, as I don't really have the time to finish what I wanted to do as a game project, I decided to convert it and return it as an open source engine. Something that a lot of people were reclaiming. If you want more detail about the current version you can go at this topic GMC Topic If you don't have Gamemaker you can play an exe version of the engine. Just click on this link http://64digits.com/users/djrellik/Mario_Bros_Engine_6_exe_demo.zip I also made a video btw showing a gameplay demonstration. You can take a look before downloading if you want. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyB2V6WSvig
New version of my Mario Bros3 Engine released
Posted on October 12, 2006 at 21:09
I've finally been able to release a new version of my new engine. It's still all about the engine but it include much more new stuffs be sure to take a look.
Copied from the game entry Update October 12th 2006:Sorry for the time it took, but here a new version of my engine. In addition to all the stuffs that I converted to gm6 and 60fps, this version include many new stuffs, especially related to enemies' behavior over many different things. It would be too long to say them all so just experiment everything. I've also changed how Mario act when he get stuck in a block. He now move slowly foward instead of being teleported directly at the end of the block. Sound simple but it was actually something really hard to do. Now with all that done, one of the thing I want to do before starting reworking on the original levels, is a view system similar to Super Mario World in level where you don't need to run to scroll verticaly. If you want an example try the "Yoshis Island 3" level. I hope I'll be able to do it because my levels can't be done with the view system used in mario bros 3, and I want to do something better than the default view system used in gamemaker. Other than that, just scroll down to get the download link By the way I just realised that I got a 5 friends badge lol. I only know melee-master but still thanks for those who added me ;), to bad I can't know who did. And thanks to all those who made my engine the third most downloaded game and the first most downloaded wip =)
My attempt to recreate mb3 movement physics perfectly
Posted on August 30, 2006 at 23:18
Well some of you maybe already seen my mb3 game I was working on which I unfortunately stop working on it because of the crappy computer I had. Now that I have a new computer, I've been able to bring it even further by converting it to gm6 and in 60 fps which made me able to recreate the original physics as close as I could.
I have a screenshot for example of me testing jumping heights (in paint and it's probably the last time I'll use it to make a gif <_<) Take a look at this topic to see it http://forums.gamemaker.nl/index.php?showtopic=233765 You can also look at my games to see the one before I convert it to gm6, it have real levels.
Why none of my files are working?
Posted on August 25, 2006 at 19:07
Well as it's been like 4 weeks that you have moved and that I see no one complaining about that I guess I'm the only one that have this problem.
It's just that none of my files, except those that I uploaded after the server's move, are working and I'm wondering why. It's official, I'm getting a new comp next Friday or Tuesday!
Posted on June 27, 2006 at 11:40
Yep it's official I'm finally getting my own comp either next friday or tuesday of the next week. So that's mean I'll finally be able to use gm6(and play people's game, yay! :P) and finish that mario bros 3 games I so wanted to finish. I really doubt about starting any other projects after except for maybe turning the result of the game into an open source engine. But that, only if I can convert the current game in gm6 because I don't think that it would worth the time to make an engine only usable with gm5.3.
For the game, as I know I'll restart working on it, I already started working on the levels as it is something I can do without any problem with my current computer. Level 1 to 3 are very close to be finished, Level 4 and 6 are in completion and 8 is also near to be finished. The first fortress hasn't been started at all as well than level 5,8,9. I'm still thinking about how they will look like. Other than that I did the last room before bowser that will probably be the hardest of every level. Also the hardest to do so I'm pretty proud that it is almost finished. I got an image of how the world map will look like if you are interested. Maybe that the game will look kinda small for you but the levels will be fairly long so you won't be decieved, well I hope not but anyway I don't really have the time to make anything bigger. Well that's all for now
Should be reworking on my mb3 game soon to hopefully finish it someday
Posted on June 23, 2006 at 14:28
Hey! Well as some of you have seen, I was working on a mario bros 3 game that was pretty good referring from what people said on it, but unfortunately, I had to stop working on it because of the crappy computer I have. It been more than 6 months now and I wanted to let people know that I'll get my own computer really soon, like in 1 or 2 weeks if everything goes well.
Which mean that I'll finally be able to finish that game that I have put so much time in it. For those that didn't know, it was at first an open source engine and, including the time I worked on the game, I've been working over 2 years on it. So that's something I really wanted to finish. If you want to try the beta of the game you can take a look in my submissions, it's the only game I have summited. I could add more if some people are interested too btw I'm happy to be back :) and seeing that my blog got 282 hits without even anything in it, I thought it was the time for me to write something in it heheh. Ok I just realized that I uploaded a new version of the game here there is a long time but I forgot to update the link on the submission page. So I updated it to the last version so be sure to take a look at it. It have sprites that fit much more to the game(look at the banner) It now use .mod file instead of .mid for the music which result to much better quality Some special effect like skid and fireball smoke New animation like when you hit a block Improved levels and 2 new ones which one is hidden and only those that care enough to the game will find it. It show an example of how a complete level will look. New stuffs like being able to grab a shield Well I hope you'll take a look and tell me what you think about it Prev Page | Next Page |
