Hi everyone, it's been ages since i've done anything on my 64D page...not since I uploaded Eat Lead as a WIP I guess. Well right now Eat Lead is almost wrapped up but I've also tried tackling a new project: Harvest Moon. Since it's such an awesome game with simple yet fun gameplay, I thought it might be a fun idea to try imitate on gamemaker, you know, just to keep learning and training my gamemaking skills (which aren't extremely good at the moment!). This is a screenshot of where it currently stands: So far the character can walk, pick up items and throw them down and use five tools, with the farmland being able to be ploughed and watered. And before I have people interrogating me, yes the sprites are ripped from the original Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town game, which I will credit in the case of publishing. Do you guys think this is an okay idea or should i scrap it before I have all Hell behind me while making it? Since I've never done anything remotely close to RPG, I am quite sure I will have problems while making...but I guess that's why we have forums like 64D to help each other out. If it's a bad idea, anyone have a small game idea or example idea they'd like to share to give me something to do? Grr. School starts in one week and I still haven't done most of my holiday work! Better get started... -Casshern

Edit: got my username changed! :D
Well...two weeks ago, I made an example that uses a code to calculate the angle a projectile needs to be fired at to reach a certain distance at a certain speed. I submitted it...but...well, i'm still only 8th in the queue! 64D! have thee forsaken me?!! :( Edit: Nvm, it got uploaded! :D check it out everyone! Anyway, I am currently working on a platform shooter called Eat Lead (many thanks to ruhtrA for coming up with the name). Currently i've worked up to v0.08, and hopefully i'll be able to finish v1.00 by July. Currently the game includes: -2 very simple maps -17 different weapons, ranging from M16 rifle to M18 Claymore mines, sorted into 6 different kits (like BF2) -Fully functional base takeover system (All your base are belong to us! lol) -Fully functional menu system and weapon choice system -Controllable shields which can be lifted for shooting and lowered for defence -Not-so-bad AI soldiers, both allies and enemies -Advanced trajectory planning system allows accurate AI mortar support (watch out so it doesn't kill you too) -Different view systems (view based on you, based on reticle, and zoom in based on reticle) Edit: currently on v0.09, almost finished! Added features: -Vehicles (tanks and APCs) -New weapons for Eastern Federation army -Differing faces for units -2 new testing maps -Plant cover (trees, bush, grass etc.) -Textured terrain -Enhanced AI system Currently I'm improving on AI and creating vehicles to further develop my game. Edit: Now I am just adding the final features to touch up the game and ready it for submitting as a game! If anyone wants a sneak preview and comment on it, here's the link: Download here Please make comments and suggestions!

The Long March
Posted on January 15, 2007 at 16:00
I' have been working on the Long March and made an excutable of where I'm currently up to (v0.6).
(check out my Games section to dl) This is a screenshot from one of the levels: I still need to make a few more levels, create two more bosses and maybe make some improvements to current levels. Also I plan on making a tutorial level as right now you have to read the game info to learn the controls. v0.6 release notes: -Hero can freely move and shoot (rifle, grenade, machine gun, bazooka) -Four types of enemies + boss -Both overhead and platform shooter levels (total of 8) -New swamp terrain at level 8 -Three cutscenes + quiz -Variety of items -Save checkpoint at middle of level Please comment on errors, bugs and possible improvements so I can keep editing to perfect it!
Current work
Posted on December 17, 2006 at 04:27
My current work is called The Long March.
It's actually a game me and ruhtrA made two years ago for a history project (got full marks!), but i decided i should finish it completely. ruhtrA couldn't be bothered working on it so he just handed all rights over the game to me for now. I've finished converting from DnD to GML for now (it was made in DnD back then becoz I wasn't gd with GML then). It's a platform shooter, with quite simple gameplay; although it has some maps that are overhead (sniping levels). I've managed to create cutscenes too, although quite shoddy and low-quality, and even a quiz system! which most ppl won't be able to solve unless they know about the actual Long March! :D I'm debugging some of the errors with Theodore III's help, and hopefully I'll be able to upload an exe file soon. I'll upload some screen shots later too. Time to work on it! -teh_pwnerer
