Hi everyone, it's been ages since i've done anything on my 64D page...not since I uploaded Eat Lead as a WIP I guess.
Well right now Eat Lead is almost wrapped up but I've also tried tackling a new project: Harvest Moon.
Since it's such an awesome game with simple yet fun gameplay, I thought it might be a fun idea to try imitate on gamemaker, you know, just to keep learning and training my gamemaking skills (which aren't extremely good at the moment!).
This is a screenshot of where it currently stands:
So far the character can walk, pick up items and throw them down and use five tools, with the farmland being able to be ploughed and watered. And before I have people interrogating me, yes the sprites are ripped from the original Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town game, which I will credit in the case of publishing.
Do you guys think this is an okay idea or should i scrap it before I have all Hell behind me while making it?
Since I've never done anything remotely close to RPG, I am quite sure I will have problems while making...but I guess that's why we have forums like 64D to help each other out. If it's a bad idea, anyone have a small game idea or example idea they'd like to share to give me something to do?
Grr. School starts in one week and I still haven't done most of my holiday work! Better get started...

got my username changed! :D
Well...two weeks ago, I made an example that uses a code to calculate the angle a projectile needs to be fired at to reach a certain distance at a certain speed.
I submitted it...but...well, i'm still only 8th in the queue!
64D! have thee forsaken me?!! :(
Nvm, it got uploaded! :D check it out everyone!
Anyway, I am currently working on a platform shooter called Eat Lead (many thanks to ruhtrA for coming up with the name). Currently i've worked up to v0.08, and hopefully i'll be able to finish v1.00 by July.
Currently the game includes:
-2 very simple maps
-17 different weapons, ranging from M16 rifle to M18 Claymore mines, sorted into 6 different kits (like BF2)
-Fully functional base takeover system (All your base are belong to us! lol)
-Fully functional menu system and weapon choice system
-Controllable shields which can be lifted for shooting and lowered for defence
-Not-so-bad AI soldiers, both allies and enemies
-Advanced trajectory planning system allows accurate AI mortar support (watch out so it doesn't kill you too)
-Different view systems (view based on you, based on reticle, and zoom in based on reticle)
currently on v0.09, almost finished!
-Vehicles (tanks and APCs)
-New weapons for Eastern Federation army
-Differing faces for units
-2 new testing maps
-Plant cover (trees, bush, grass etc.)
-Enhanced AI system
Currently I'm improving on AI and creating vehicles to further develop my game.
Now I am just adding the final features to touch up the game and ready it for submitting as a game!
If anyone wants a sneak preview and comment on it, here's the link:

OMG camp was awesome! :D
5 days of pure fun and joy! (minus about 4 hours of misery in the dreadful rain...)
i think it's the first time since yr 9 when a whole lot of my friends were in the same group as me
which made it just even more awesome! ^^
i took lots of photos, which i will hopefully scan and upload some time this week (AFTER i finish all the hw + assignments...)
i'll keep a basic log of camp here, so i won't forget the happy memories!
also some identification of the ppl...
Matthew=a friend, namely God
Michael Kim=a SOB in our year level :p (nicknamed 'shorty' and 'short angry man')
-Matthew and his mass lolly raids on the bus!
-teh most awesome accomodation out of my whole camp life at Taupo
-BOUNCING PILLOW!!! :D and sunbathing on the pool
-Golden arches + Pak 'n' Save...mm...
-A night full of raiding sugar, tea and coffee from other cabins (not to mention keys)
-Michael kim's '5 sec warning of death' + pushing eddie off the deck
-Lot of waking up in the middle of the night (for all four of us)
::Day 2:: (birthday!!!)
-Waking up at 6am, and getting ready for the day by 6:20am
-Sitting outside michael, willy, jackson and justin's cabin at 6:30am (they were supposed to do brekkie duty, waking up at 6:45am)
-Finding the door open, therefore leaving an "we were here" note on the table XD
-Volunteering to do duties instead as teacher came and they were still sleeping
-Other group coming to breakfast 20 min later with no cutlery
-Mountain biking...in the rain
-Me tumbling over on a downhill no one else dared to ride down!
-Wet exits, not bad!
-More golden arches!
-Plenty of annoying michael kim just by going to his cabin and saying hi
-Lasagna (THREE types! :o) for dinner! and other great foods! at a RESTAURANT!
-MORE annoying michael kim (i dunno, he just hates our guts :p) thnx to our frequent visits to their cabin
-Early wake up once again (the cat also visited us, so we spent like half an hour stroking it! >_<)
-Early breakfast! Early sandwich making (yea...we kinda took like most of the tuna too... ^^;;;)
-KAYAKING! it was AWESOME!!!! (shared double kayak with mr bukley, who has a tendency to slack off!)
-Lunch in a swampy, muddy, bug-infested area (ew...)
-Long tiring session of packing kayaks up
-Trip to OPC, where we practically played hours and HOURS of table tennis!
-AWESOME chips + macaronni and cheese with bacon dinner! and ICE CREAM!!!
-EVEN MORE MILO! and even COFFEE! (yea, i got on a sugar/caffeine high that night...so wat?)
-Card games (namely 7-card stud poker ^^) with the boys
-Night, sleep time! (AFTER an hour of clive's mooning, flashing lights and dirty yet hilarious talks)
-ANOTHER early wake up! we had brekkie duty anyway :p
-OMG...almost half an HOUR of duty... =_= (cracking like 50 eggs, mopping/sweeping blah blah blah)
-Delicious brekkie! but we had to clean up...HORRIBLE
-GORGING! after getting geared up of course (me: "do i look fat in this wetsuit?")
-Freezing water, painful human ladder on concrete slope and leg getting pulled under a boulder! (someone got completely pulled under in other group XD) but still extremely fun!
-High ropes, SO much fun and thrill! (all the climbing and swinging~ i felt like a monkey/tarzan!)
-MORE table tennis MORE milo MORE coffee MORE awesome beanie bags and jumping on them! MORE card games!
-NACHOS!!!!!!! and apple crumbles, which matt forbade me from having seconds =_=
-Treasure hunt! we had to find a lot of things (which arthur pointed out as 'a poorly disguised plan for us to pick up rubbish')
-Things included rubber bands, yellow flowers, red berries, leaf from the lava tree and STEAMING possum dung XD (we came 4th, 1st place got life supply of AIR!!!)
-Guess what we did from 9:30pm~10:30pm?
-POKER (Texas Hold'em) using M&Ms and Fizzies! (participants: me, matt, arthur, eddie, simon, Mr Buckley!)
-I WON! :D lots of lollies for me! it was WONDERFUL!!! must do again...
-MORE clive's dirty but interesting and really funny talks, then sleep at like quarter to 12...
-Early morning! Made HEAPS of sandwiches for group and packed everything up!

-Cold, miserable, sore...need more description?
-Stopped near top for lunch...(After like half an hour of climbing steep rocky slope)
-...with hands covered in wool from the mittens...YUK
-Etc, Etc, lots of sliding, butt-slides, trampling bushes and tripping over them...
-FINALLY! four hours of horrow OVER!
-Back to camp, quickly dressed so we could go home (bus was a-waiting)
-Trip back home...on a first-class bus! (with TV, VCR, comfy seats, foot rest and even adjustable seats!!!) ^^
-Golden arches again, yeah i know...unhealthy
-Someone stole photos out of my phone! all the photos with girls in them that is (plus a friend in one)
-Easily tracked down and identified which photos were taken~ ^^

The Long March
Posted on January 15, 2007 at 16:00
I' have been working on the Long March and made an excutable of where I'm currently up to (v0.6).
(check out my Games section to dl)
This is a screenshot from one of the levels:
I still need to make a few more levels, create two more bosses and maybe make some improvements to current levels. Also I plan on making a tutorial level as right now you have to read the game info to learn the controls.
v0.6 release notes:
-Hero can freely move and shoot (rifle, grenade, machine gun, bazooka)
-Four types of enemies + boss
-Both overhead and platform shooter levels (total of 8)
-New swamp terrain at level 8
-Three cutscenes + quiz
-Variety of items
-Save checkpoint at middle of level
Please comment on errors, bugs and possible improvements so I can keep editing to perfect it!

My current work is called The Long March.
It's actually a game me and ruhtrA made two years ago for a history project (got full marks!), but i decided i should finish it completely.
ruhtrA couldn't be bothered working on it so he just handed all rights over the game to me for now. I've finished converting from DnD to GML for now (it was made in DnD back then becoz I wasn't gd with GML then).
It's a platform shooter, with quite simple gameplay; although it has some maps that are overhead (sniping levels). I've managed to create cutscenes too, although quite shoddy and low-quality, and even a quiz system! which most ppl won't be able to solve unless they know about the actual Long March! :D
I'm debugging some of the errors with Theodore III's help, and hopefully I'll be able to upload an exe file soon. I'll upload some screen shots later too.
Time to work on it!
