--STARTED-- Minecraft 1.3 Survival Marathon
Posted on July 23, 2012 at 11:45 ![]() UPDATE: We'll be running the 1.3 pre-release for this survival marathon, and be upgrading to the official 1.3 once it's been released. If you don't know how to get it up and running, here's a video tutorial on it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kYr2Mt_GqE It's that happy time of year again! Mojang has just announced that they will be releasing a 1.3 pre-release on Wednesday or Thursday. Assuming all goes to plan, I hope to organize a Minecraft survival marathon for this Saturday, July 28th, starting at 20:13 GMT. In order to take full advantage of any new world generation features, we'll be running straight up vanilla without any mods, so no skylands this time around. If you guys have any ideas or suggestions for this marathon or future marathons, feel free to share them with us in the comments below. From what I've heard, the 1.3 update is the largest Minecraft update since the 1.8 adventure update back in September, so this marathon is certainly one you should try not to miss! As some of us (me) are trying to keep the features of 1.3 a surprise until we first play it, I'd ask that anyone who wants to discuss these new features in the comments do so in [ hide ][ / hide ] tags. As usual, we'll be shouting at each other over teamspeak throughout the night. You're all welcome to join in and bring your friends along, even if you don't plan to play. If you haven't used our teamspeak server yet, here are instructions on how to get everything set up. Also, if anyone is interested in recording parts of the event like leemcd56 did for the Baconham marathon for youtube, that would be really cool. As usual, if you plan to attend, leave your name below and I'll add you to the list. If you want to bring any friends along, give me their in-game usernames and I'll make sure they're whitelisted. 1. I think we should do some HXC survival, Like hunger games or something but with teams.
Teams start in differen area's and have to survive together gathering food, recouces, etc. Objective is to kill the opposing team, once you die you're out until end of the battle. We could play a few games of that, mix teams up etc. Then just build when we get bored. :3
As I've suggested before to Steven: Maybe a Moleman mode, where the level generator is replaced with one that bedrocks the build limit and replaces everything inbetween with caves (possibly larger ones at that) so that the entire world is underground. I think think underground cities would make a cool twist. I imagine we'd have to spawn in some basic resources (saplings, maybe a bit of grass in the 'spawn' area because silk touch should be easier in 1.3). Might necessitate using a /warp from the top of the world if the bukkit spawn system doesn't let you appear underground though.
