Passage of Time
Posted on June 21, 2006 at 21:09

There's been quite a bit of it. Basically, here's the deal. Ever since someone mentioned GMClans, and I checked it out, I've spent most of my time there instead of here. At first, I hung out at both, since really they've got pretty different purposes, but the more time passes, the less of it I spend here.

I think the problem is the influx of users. Of course I'm just another one to add to the pile, but it seems like so many people joined so quickly, turning the blogs into a joke, and filling the submission queue so full that it became practically useless (thank god there's finally a second row to help that) that it's lost what originally appealed to me about the site: Speedy reactions and a more closely knit community (than most GM related sites) that actually seemed to want to help each other.

I don't know... Maybe it'll stabilize soon. Or maybe it'll spiral further out of control and become the GMC+Hosting. Hopefully the former. One thing that I think could drastically help with stabilization is the addition of a second blog section. If it were split in two, with only the blogs of "friends" in the top section, and any blogs in the bottom section, it would be easier to keep track of the people you want to keep track of. Something similar for recent games wouldn't hurt either. As is, the "flood of crud" turns me away more and more. Being able to filter that somehow would help greatly (at least in my opinion, of course).

In other, completely unrelated news, I can't seem to play the RPG. After I finally died, I could never come back to life. Going to the sanctuary just tells me that I don't play the RPG...

I'm sorry to say I know how you feel... Because it's also how I feel. There's just too many crap blogs. Use the damn forum people! Like... So many, that I'm tempted to see about talking to teh authorita of teh site about implementing some very strict blog rules. The forum is perfect for everything else.

To me, 64D has lost its original feel (I still love this place though)

But, us staff are able to turn this around. This summer we're planning a complete recode and the release of V3. A major new feature will be to see only the blogs of your favourite users. (and for Ludamad and a few others, well.. XD is all I can... emotisize).

So yeah, hope for the best people!

(sorry if I offended anyone with my initial opening, but it's the truth)

It's nothing we can avoid, its caused by the new users, and the new users are gonna come (would we stop them? XD)

New users are horrible. They really screw up this site [>>]

What can I say? I am one of them. Sorry for being a problem Sad

Well, if you've got a good website then people are going to come to it naturally.

I'm thinking filter the recent submissions more harshly. Like if there is a geniunely crap game then don't put it on the submissions list...

seriously. we need higher standards. i dont care about the conciquences. i have seen too many games that... basically suck...

im not new here. ive been here for about a year here and have lived up to the 64D standard. i have games, wips, and examples, i have fairly large blogs with meaningful and informative content, i dont EVER downgrade other games or uprate my own onder a different user name... but ppl coming in... they seem like less and less mature.
