F4D ~ Santa Training
Posted on December 10, 2011 at 14:58

The title is unsatisfactory, but hey it'll probably stick...

I've finished the core engine, so though maybe but probably not people would like to hear about it. Obviously, all graphics will be remade... nonetheless:

As you can clearly see the graphics are shocking... and not so clearly see is how the game works, you'll live I'm sure. On the other hand, there's lots of pretty numbers from the physics!

I decided to have a break from programming and create the story/context of the game, which everyone wants to read about:

=> How did you think Santa can circumnavigate the earth in one night, and where did you think he got those presents?

=> He had to go through extensive training to get to his position of amazingness. You think you could do better?! … Fine, we’ll set you up with a slay..

=> Contrary to popular belief the Reindeers are just happy pets, and to be honest, are cover ups, because their physics is really confusing. Instead, you use a supply of Christmas magic to move your slay. It’s not cheap stuff, so we’ll provide only some of your needs. Rumour has it that the Christmas magic comes from stars, by the way.

=> Now, on to the issue of presents. As this is only training you’re only expected to collect the presents. That’s right, collect. The cake factory is a lie. The elves, however, are not. Unfortunately, they live all over the place, and they leave their presents just outside their doors. All you have to do is pick them up.

=> The principle isn’t challenging is it? The basic moving of the slay and collecting the presents, not too bad, eh? So, each round we’ve only asked for three elves to make you presents (so they’ll be cheerfully wrapped up), but you know, if you see any others why not grab them – no harm in that? Oh, and also as you think you’re better than Santa you have to reach a certain height and distance each round.

=> Therefore, all you have to do is navigate to three presents as well as flying a certain height and distance to complete each round. You will be scored on the amount of presents you collect, the amount of Christmas magic left over, and, of course, your time.

So, yeah.. really exciting?

Limited amount of other news

I worked out recently that in my summer exams 6 will be in maths, that's the same as all the others put together. Half my exams will be maths! For those that don't know, or for some reason care, I'm taking maths, further maths, biology, chemistry, and physics.

Periods on this font bother me. :C

Anyway, this is a pretty neat concept, I like where it's going.
