This is a short game in grayscale that I made on Christmas Eve of last year. I'd appreciate it if you reserve your judgement until you get to the end. It's philosophical.

Also, if 640x480 resolution bothers you, don't play it.

Would that be the place were I died?

Anyways this is good I like it. Not rating because it wasn't so good that I wanted to start over when I died.

10/10 game play: good solid engine with no visible bugs
10/10 graphics: good job looks very good for grayscale.
-/- sound: no sound
-/- music: no music
-/- dificulty: no real dificulty or any way to lose or win.

total 100%, out of what you have done i like it.

also on a side note... ipod13dude... grow up and leave 64 didgets... your kind ruins stuff like this.

Why did you call this stupid ipod13dude? I think it's not the best game, but you can see he worked very hard to make this. I like the smoke behind the flying-machine. There are some bugs, like going outside the window if you go up.

To improve this game, you should add pick-ups and health.

EDIT: I didn't get to the end

It's supposed to be very short. That is supposed to add to the 'meaning' of the game; this isn't meant to be played like a normal game, exactly.

Murftronics- why not? It looks better, and most people don't have a problem with it.

BTW, I made this in one day, so I didn't really work all that hard on it. ;) Also, you don't go outside the window, it just looks like it because you go behind the clouds.

Mods- I take it it would be alright to delete ipod13dude's comments? And why is the rating still a 1/10?

I got to the giant eye
It'd be nice to have sound
Say <Noctus> in the game start event
The floor of the brick part gets me stuck when I enter from the floor.
Make Z auto, have the chain break with a collision with the actual ship.
Increase the smoke trail intensity

Actually, I liked the style of graphics. The only part I didn't like is, it needs to be a little more self-explanetory or something. I didn't know what I was doing for a while.
@ipod13dude You mispelled therefore you must be unintelligent.
Oh, and also, the only bug I found was that if you held down z, and went to another room, the guns still moved without actually firing. Otherwise no bugs. Needs some sound, but good nonetheless. 9/10

Its also not worth playing again once you reach the eyeball room,so just use room_restart().

Hmm... I'm not sure whether to treat this as a minigame or just a ridiculously short normal game. It has the style and longevity of a minigame but the same discovery driven style of a proper game. It does both and excels at neither. 7/10

I hate to sound like a snob, but I think some of you are missing the point of this game. Mainly, this game was meant to be an experiment with atmosphere. However, I was not joking when I said it is philosophical. It's supposed to be kind of like one of Franz Kafka's fables ( clicky ) but in video game format.

So yes. It is a ridiculously short normal game, in the same way and for the same reason as the La La Land games. It just happens to have a little more actual gameplay.

I think if you put some more work into it, it would be an interesting retro-style game.

is it supposed to end at the giant eye? because after i beat him, the game shut down. That could be my computer, but...

How is it philosophical?

I loved the atmosphere. I imagine if this were longer, and it were made in flash, it would be one of those little flash games that everyone plays, or maybe like that java Falling Sands game. Its that type of game.

i bet you could easily run this through GMflash, maybe after a little cropping, to make a kewl flash game, like DF said.

abacus- yes, that is where it is supposed to end.

serprex- can't help you there, really. It's kind of designed to be one of those things where the player comes up with his own interpretation.

DF- thanks. I've never tried anything with GMFlash before. I guess I could give it a shot.
