Dawn of Civilization
Dawn of Civilization is an RTS/CBS (real-time strategy/city-building strategy) game set in the time period from 6000 BC to 0 AD.
* Beautiful 3d graphics
* 5 unit types (20+ planned)
* >20 buildings (60+ planned)
* Tutorial scenario
* Advanced RTS interface

File details:
* 30 mb (Large, but further updates will be considerably smaller. It's not mostly music, either.)
* GM7.1 With Xtreme3d 2
* Fullscreen

System requirements:
* Recommended at least an NVidia GeForce 6600 or equivalent (128mb graphical memory)
* At least 512mb system memory

* Windows Vista or XP
* Monitor capable of at least 1024x768 resolution (As of the current demo, 1024x768 resolution is required to play the game!)
* At least a 2.5GHz cpu (Unconfirmed)

Dawn of Civilization would probably be rated Teen for blood and animated violence.

Patch 0.2.2: download here

This patch fixes, among other things, the noted resolution errors.

I hate this, I need a better CPU...

I have more than everything else.

I'm not saying it won't work; just that it probably won't run fast.

That circle stone thing looks similar to something out of Populous: The Beginning. That game wasn't that bad actually.

It's meant to look more similar to this:

From the screenshots, this game looks awesome. How did you make it?

I took 3 parts knowledge and 30 parts time, mixed them, and baked at 400* for 6 months.

i dont really like these types of games, and the filesize was ginormous, but thanks to the new speed upgrade it wasnt so bad. But i am a huge grfix whore, and those were some really nice graphics. REALLY NICE.

Well I downloaded it, but can't seem to get it to run on the system I've got here so I'll have to take it home to test it. Looks awesome though.

I'm not buying a new system just to run a game that has graphics from way before my current system was released.

Impressive. I'd love to know how you did the grass and trees. However, you should force the player to turn to 1024x768 resolution. It doesn't work in 1280x1024 at all. That is a poor oversight to make.

Very nice, I think...

I wasn't actually able to play it.

What a disappointment.

Also, what game was it based off of?

Empire Earth.

rating bug?

Someone can't make an RTS without basing it off of something, right?
Empire Earth was like...0 AD to present (maybe future, I don't remember).
This is before that.
Very, very nice game, omicron1. Just try to lower the required computer specifications.

->Juju, Siert: Did you happen to notice the blurb about "Patch 0.2.2?" "Fixes the noted resolution errors." The main download isn't up to date simply because it takes so long to upload that I haven't gotten around to it yet. In the meantime, just download the noted patch to be able to play.
I can tell you aren't running the latest patch because the build icon improvements I added aren't present in your screenshots.

->ghg: When, pray tell, was your system released? Because DoC can display graphics that are (I believe) equivalent to RTS games from ~2004. Sure, it takes a hefty system to do so - but this is a GM project, and somewhat unoptimized at present.

->Juju part 2: The trees are straight 3d models. The grass is single Xtreme3d "sprites." Did you notice the grass waving in the breeze?

->Siert, Juju, Kilin: DoC is not based off Empire Earth as much as it is off Age of Empires. But in 3d. With city-building elements from games such as Pharaoh.
