Nearly Perfect Normal Mapping
I came up with this technique while i was at my chick friends house, sitting on her bed, 200 miles away from my computer, lol. For the quality, and lack of speed increases, it runs really well. Dont get me wrong, it may not be more than 30 fps for some members, but in all fairness, i think its time for them to upgrade anyways, lol.

I have this recorded at running up and beyond 300 frames per second, and that is fantastic!!

I will release the source when more features are added, and when its optimized all to hell and back.

FoxEdit: Don't complain about it being in *.7z format. Seriously, you really should have some zip program to handle *.rar, *.7z, *.lzh, etc.

Thanks for the comment! I'll be working on adding new features and stuff later today.

How high was your frame rate by the way?

This is very nice. I got a constant 40 FPS on 2.04ghz AMD Athlon XP 2400+ processer, 512MB DDR2 RAM, RADEON 9600 pro 128MB gfx card.

:]

amazing work. How about you post the source code, though?

Like i said, the source will be posted, but its not in a usable state yet, this is merely a tech demo, and completely unoptimized and unpractical as of yet.

I've just seen Bryan's example, It is nice, but its only specular lighting, no normal mapping or bump mapping. The oly thing I've seen that really compares in result is the per pixel bump mapping demo by Adventus, and even that is a far cry from what i've done, lol.

Thank you, I'm working on a simple game to utilize all the new features i'm working on, it wont be optimized when i release the next demo, so dont complain about the speed until i start to fix it. lol.

Nice work, but could you release sorce code so we all could learn from it.

I will release the source, but i need to square away some bugs and make it faster first. This isnt just going to be a bump map demo, it will be a complete lighting system on par with Adventus L3S, so much work is yet to be done, this is merely a teaser of sorts, somehting to give you an idea of what you'll get a part of the full version.

I get the feeling indecom doesn't like us... withholding valuable shiny goodness like this. But even so, this is brilliant and no one should complain about 7zip. Download it now and save 30 dollars you would've spent on WinRar, WinZip, and WinUrmom.

Haha, no, i like you plenty, that's why i'm doing all the work, saving you from it, lol. I'm working on an update, and i'll post it as soon as i can, but there is a lot that needs to be done.

Good Job
It runs efficiently and produces a good accurate bumpmapped effect.

I tried something like this once but it turned out as specular :(
