The Adventures of Cendah
Welcome to the true world of Knight Man. You will once again play the role of Cendah, but this time from the beginning. Your brethren have found your old homeland. Cendah and some fellow warriors are sent out to explore the land but during the journey something happens...

This is an action rpg inspired by Zelda (A Link to the Past) and the old warcraft games (WarCraft 1 + 2). Enjoy!

Update (7 March 2008) v1.01:
- Gaining a level does not cause player character to freeze.
- player will now get +10 mana when leveling up instead of +5.
- Added more gold in the tutorial so player will have enough to try the first shop.
- Fixed shop prizes frame bug.
- Enemy arrows are now stoped by trees.
- Brown Bats won't "flap around" anymore.
- Fixed some collision "bugs".

I could have sworn I saw that knight graphics somewhere - maybe it was an earlier demo of that game :P

Ps. The game slows down a lot when I stand in front of a shopkeeper - presumably, his quote is re-created hundreds of times one on top of another. It's a bit weird how such simple bugs appear in such a well-developed game...

Strange, I can safly say that that is not the problem. I made sure of that a long time ago. No one told me about that before. I got to look into that (but I've tested it on over 20 different computers and never got that error).

I always get it - with every scroll shopkeeper, I don't get this problem with guards blocking your way, though (even though they also say stuff).

Also, more comments:

Default messages are very bad. :P You could have changed the death message into the scroll ones that are used everywhere else.

Levelling up killed me once (and pissed me off unbelievably). Once you level up, the attack/magic choice shows up instantly, and if you're on low health, you just die because you can't do anything else. It's the same (but less random) if you open the equipment / magic menus, since the game itself doesn't stop.

I know it's a bit hard to make the game stop for open menus in game-maker, but you could at least let the player press some key after levelling up to get the stat upgrade choice, rather than force it straight away, and effectively disturb gameplay since you just take hits as the thing pops up in the middle of combat.

Finally, some minor things make little sense - eg. why do crossbow bolts fly through trees? Why do teleports work only once? Why are teleport exit roads blocked before you use them? (I mean, you still wouldn't be able to use the teleport exit itself... at least the objects blocking them could look different than bushes / air, which makes little sense).

Overally, this looks like a very interesting and complex game, but all these simple things which look like basic shortcomings ruin the experience. I don't know whether by "Completed game" you mean that you're not going to work on it anymore, but if you could fix at least some of the issues I've mentioned, that would be a really excellent game.

I'll try to explain:
Levelling up: It is suppose to do that. You are suppose to make a fast choice, after you've done that your health and mana is fully restored.. should really put that somewhere.. maybe in the upcoming manual.

Hmm okey, I'll take care of those arrows. It seems hard as it is.

You are not alone beeing batherd by teleport exits are blocked.. I'll remove that.I think I made that so ppl shouldn't go there and when they completed the quest they would know why, but, well you are not alone :) I'll fix that.

Yes, but can't you see how annoying that is for somebody who plays for the first time to see a choice like that pop up and just KILL YOU in the middle of a battle, especially since there is no bar whatsoever to tell you when that may happen? If you want an example of how annoying it is, I deleted the game after that. :P

(seriously, I don't understand a logic that PUNISHES you for levelling up...)

Really nicely done. Could do with some balancing when it comes to fighting and improvement of graphical snazziness, but everything is in place for a classic game. 9/10
