Click here for notification of new updates
As an addition to Particle Designer 1.2, version 2 has a huge amount of updates to it. This program allows you to create 3 particles at once with all of the functions available in GM6+, but it also allows you to create emitters, attractors, changers, deflectors, and destroyers as well. With its easy interface and random generating particles, you will be able to create particle effects and particle systems in no time! You can export the entire system to GML to use in your game, or take screenshots and animated GIFs. It even includes a codebox, which allows you to use most GML to even test as if it was in-game! It doesn't even have to be used for your game. NEW! In version 2.1, you can open files with the program, and use PDSF files!

Version 2.3! (7/27/08)

I've tried it out on the GMC a week ago and I can say it's pretty good, does what it needs to do flawlessly, also love the random function. Only thing didn't like was that I couldn't press the stream button and could barely see the burst button; changing resolutions or windows didn't help - was very annoying. Fix it plox. 8/10.

Great! Absolutely complete and amazing particle effects. My random ones always listed to the left though, I guess it's just me. At any rate, the is a great tool for those who are partically impaired (like myself). This is a great help to myself and the rest of the GM communities. 10/10
Nighthawk commented April 19, 2007 at 12:33 AM
Awesome! I will definitely be using this!

Sweet.
This helps immensely when trying to make good particle effects, and it works quite well.so I give you a 10/10.

Just a couple of things:
1. The screen doesn't keep its proportions in fullscreen.
2. What does the first set of checkboxes do?

OMFG OMFG OMFG!!!!!! 9/10

1. Whether to execute the function or not. If not, it will not export it in the file either.
2. Thats in the help file :P I didn't want to work on effiecent ways to do it, so it just stretches. It doesn't help much, but maybe v2.1 will. idk. :)

So, it wasn't displayed like the 2nd screenshot? Odd... It should...

Dammit
Now everyone is going to have good effects and wont need me anymore
HOW DARE YOU!?
oOo commented April 19, 2007 at 2:33 AM
Hey this it great. Its a great timesaver and it allows people to tweak their effects for just the right amount of particles for optimum performance. 9/10
Coffee commented April 19, 2007 at 5:32 AM
Its pretty cool once you get used to it, but the GML script doesn't always work.
Graydon commented April 19, 2007 at 11:08 AM
It is amazng, just amazing. I will now be able to use some cool particle effects in my games now. 10/10
ampou commented April 19, 2007 at 2:59 PM

You mean in the game? Or the export of the program? Keep in mind, this was made with GM6, so I don't know if it is different with GM7.

I'm like the third best I know at effects
And I'm useless now
basilamer commented April 19, 2007 at 9:59 PM
@Coffee:
Thats because you have to inport it to GM.

10/10
Its nice, because you can see your own particle as you're changing it. This adds quicker modification.
SquareWheel commented April 20, 2007 at 1:42 AM
This is great. The Export to GML was well done as well, although using custom images does cause a problem. They need to be in quotes if your finding an external image, and the directory needs to be listed. If not, the user has to add the image themself manually and give it the same name as the file name. Besides a few little issues, this was done VERY well.

@Xxypher Emotional one Eh?

@Rating Almost perfect. 9.7/10(10)

Way to shove a shameless plug into someone else's topic.

I loved the first version of the particle designer, so I'm downloading the second in anticipation.

I seriously love this program. Some people prefer to do it in GMC, but I'm a visual person and this thing is like the only reason i even bother with particle effects. Version 2 is great, and, though i don't usually do this, but a solid 10/10; all the things i could have asked for that the old one didn't have are here... its only a matter of time before i come up with some new requests lol... but for now, 10/10!
Wolfprogramming commented August 28, 2007 at 11:27 AM
I got varsion 1 and 2 from the Gms and the 2 is so much better that 1 :) before i wouldt work wit vista but with the Mark Overmars game Conventer it works (as all gm6 games on vista) 10 poM!
