In a word

In a word was my entry into the Text themed RDC. It lost, but I enjoyed making it.

In the game, you control the Cuboid player. Your goal is to reach the end of the level dodging the enemies. You can stun them using the Screech attack.

There are several types of lock-blocks. These are opened by finding Pages and Gems.

Only Levels 1 and 2 are playable as of now. I will add more as time allows.

The controls are:
(Left,right) - Movement.
X - Jumping.
V - Screech Attack
ESC - Exits.

Distinctly... nice. Nothing innovative, nothing broken. Some of the graphics mismatch a bit, the detail on the grass tiles is completely at-odds with the rest of the graphical style. Other than that, good job. I'm hesitant to give this a rating about a 6 and here's why - you haven't tried anything new or even rehashed anything old. In my opinion, not trying to innovate is worse than creating a bad innovation. 6/10

Pretty simple, and not bad considering it's unregistered. I prefer not having to resort to F1 for controls, but it's fine. The only thing I wasn't sure about was that C had a mysterious use that was hidden from me.

Very, very basic for a platformer, I'd say. Like Juju said, nothing really new or too interesting. Since it's a WIP, I'll withhold my rating. Just try out some new ideas. That's what makes basic platformers so much more fun.

Very simple. Not bad. It seems like you couldn't decide between outlining you sprites or not. Simple game simple comment. 4/10

Hmm. Thanks everybody. I might try to improve the game, but I'm more for starting a new one. The idea is too generic.

Haha, that was short :P

Would be fun to have a screeching animation for that cuboid guy. I can imagine him closing his eyes and going "RRRRROAR" :D

lol you need to update this ASAP. like everyone has already stated, it's quite simple right now. than again... i'm pretty sure every possible platformer idea has already been done anyway lol i'm fine with playing the same format over and over again xD
