Pokemon Lost Silver

Lost Silver is a game that was created mid 2010 for a group of people from the pokemon board at 4chan. The "game" basically consists of a playable walkthrough of the "Hacked Silver Cartridge" story that is circulating around the internet up to this day (Sept. 2011). The author of the story is unknown to the public. It is *highly* recommended you read the story (named story.txt) that is included with the download before playing the game, as to not go "wtf" when playing. It also serves as a walk-through.

The Pokemon "creepypasta" world has grown bigger with the rise of the "Hacked Silver Cartridge" and "Pokemon Ghost Black" stories, pretty much going from around 2 or 3 stories to hundreds in a matter of months. Lost Silver is one of the most known because it's one of the few stories that came coupled with a game a few months after. At the moment, I am also recreating the story for Pokemon Black in playable form.

The "Lost Silver" story is not finished. This is Part Two (Hidden). The next release of Lost Silver will most likely contain all the parts.

Any comments are appreciated :) and thank you all who have followed the project up to this point~! Without all your support I could have never finished.

As you can see, it is not a ROM hack, it is a homebrew game made in a program called Game Maker that I made in my spare time.

I'm guessing you copy and pasted this from somewhere else?

Kind of confused as to why you wanted us to read the story at first, basically the story writes out what you do in this "game." At first I thought the story was supposed to be a backstory, and a cool one too, I enjoyed reading it. Once I started the game and realized that I would get to experience it myself I got pretty freaking excited, but on the other hand I was also sad that I know what was going to happen and kinda wished that you would just leave it to us to find out what to do. Then again I may have been lost without it, I don't know, I didn't get the chance, but I just feel like I sat down to read a story that wasn't necessary except to find a deeper meaning at the end of the game (if that's what you were going for...)

This felt more like an experience than a game really, like those other artsy games that you find out there in the indi world. Definitely worth the play through for everyone who has played pokemon (everyone), but I wish it could have been better executed so that I wouldn't have to read such a long story about what I about to do in the game. 8/10

Rather short too, kinda wish there was more to explore, but I won't mark you off for that.

Oh I see, you didn't write the story, but instead making a game based off of the story. That's pretty cool. Rating still stands ;P
NeutralReiddHotel commented September 02, 2010 at 4:17 AM
It's cool, I'm not looking for ratings anyways :P (I can't really get rated on a story I did not do) it's mainly just to have a project page on it. And yes, I did copypaste that from youtube, and I thought about deleting that last line regarding the homebrew part but I decided against it as there's no really a point...

Thanks for the review! :D

Oh god. This is super badass. I <3 you.

This is exactly how I imagined it, if not creepier.

once again upon playing this I was all O_o
Castypher commented September 02, 2010 at 8:04 PM
That was...yeah. Creepy.

Up until I read Ferret's post, I thought you had written the story.

That was great. Lots of attention paid to details and etc. There's little else the game could do to be more true to the story. I personally didn't find it creepy but yeah. Not sure how to rate it so I won't.

Follows the creepypasta's description, and "playing" it is... interesting (and creepy). Great work on the engine too.

Someone brought the story this is based on up on Escapist, so i posted a link. i'd like to pretend your triple-digit views are somehow my doing, but regardless they may also be why you have three digits there and eight comments. So you're welcome and sorry, at the same time, or something.

I didn't read the story before playing which made it pretty annoying and pointless, but once I actually read the thing it synced up pretty nice. You did a good job recreating the experience, so kudos for that.

Thank you :) tbh I'm not keeping track of downloads here, I'm keeping track of the downloadable file I have on my file manager (which is at 6800+ right now)

Well... that creeped me out. I happened to play it at about midnight. Very nicely done. 8/10

I saw stuff about this on YouTube. Then I got all excited when I saw you were involved. Gonna try this out sometime.

I found this on the creepypasta blog, I didn't think it was made by you until I scrolled to the bottom and found your username. Awesome stuff bro. :D
