What happens if you try to learn blend modes? You end up making a game with vectors! Here's a day and a half project. Plain and simple asteroids game, all graphics (except text) made with nice vectors, just wanted to see if I could do it. Little game with an old arcade feeling. Controls and such are all in-game.
I used an mp3 for music on the game, which makes the file size 6 times larger, so for those that don't want to download the game with music, click here.

That's all

Replace music with chiptunes, and you'll fix the music bloat
The white background color is a bad idea, it should be black
I don't see why that required use of blendmodes, since black being 0 causes no change to the color

I'm not saying I used blend modes on the game, just that while trying to learn to use blend modes I ended up making a vector game. White background? I see no white background. And I'll check if I can find any interesting chip tunes.

Serpex is right about the white background colour - at the left and right hand side it is white because the view size isn't the same ratio as my monitor, however that can easily be changed. The graphics are nice, but when the squares go off the edge of the room, it'd look better if there was a margin so that you didn't see them just disappear.

Oh, and I liked the highscores :P

@alan make sure the chiptunes you use are not copywrited!
i think what serprex means is the white sides which are painful to look at!

what is with the junk food!? junk food is boring and is made of 50% plastic and 50% fat!!!

Ahh, now I undertand, I was usng the white background to see if the screen ratio fit my monitor, but I forgot that if someone else uses a wide screen, they'd see the white background, I forgot to change it. I'll edit it as soon as I get home.
And what's wrong with junk food? It's my game and I decide what default highscore names are thrown in.

Cool, worked and looks all right. Not really original though so I only give you a 7

hes just joking about the junk food.

i like the graphics, but the game itself is pretty boring. not much different from regular old asteroids.

There, finally changed the files with a black background

That was pretty interesting, I love the idea of the squares splitting up when destroyed, nice graphics too.

Very nice, reminds me of spacewar. A few collision errors but nice.

Pretty nice. The only thing I noticed was that the collisions were a little off.
