Yes, it took long enough, right? right! But your wait was worth it, since this is the first demo of 64 quest!!!

Important specs:
full screen - yes
change resolution - no

good effects may lag your computer, please post the FPS you got (to the right of the money, if my memory is correct) instantaneous casting of spells might create lag, so there's a note.

If you find ANY errors at all, please let me know through PM or comment, but comment would be better since the users that read the comments will know about the bug!

CONTROLS:
left & right - move
up - jump
space - cast spell
numberkeys (0~10) - select spell type
insert - set spell shortcut 1
delete - cast spell shortcut 1
home - set spell shortcut 2
end - cast spell shortcut 2
ctrl - open doors, examine signs, continue through messages, description of item at pause screen
P - pause game/view inventory and unpause game/close inventory
enter - use item (when paused)

recent updates:

current : 0.31
save and load issue fixed

please leave some reviews, suggestions, anything that comes to mind, and I will use it to make the game much better!

Thanks, and have fun with this!

If the download for some reason claims it's corrupted and you think it's your slow connection, try this mirror, just note it's firefox only.

I downloaded the file and tried opening it and got an 'Unexpected Error' message, don't know if it's just my computer though, I'll try again later.
squeakyreaper commented November 12, 2006 at 2:44 AM

Its great your continue on this game will not be hindered. I hope you the best of luck, and once again if I may help I'll try to.

Very fun, but not 10/10, grpahic weren't the best.. but good. The tutorial confuzzeld/perplexed me alot at some points. but 9/10
Amarin commented November 12, 2006 at 4:07 AM
You gave it to me already. =P
And you already know I love it.
V commented November 12, 2006 at 4:11 AM
wow, I didn't expect so many comments from one check. o.O
thanks for the awesome comments, guys! as for the odd "corrupt file" thing, that's odd, and as for the tutorial, I'll try to make a entire area for the tutorial for you guys so it won't be extremely difficult to learn! =D
kevboh commented November 12, 2006 at 4:11 AM
I liked it a lot, but I got stuck at the boulders. Is there a way to go down through the up-only platforms? Hmm.

9/10, was pretty good.
V commented November 12, 2006 at 4:30 AM
try the wall to the right of the landslide, kevboh. =P
squeakyreaper commented November 12, 2006 at 5:08 AM
I know of it because that was my secret passage way in the first, first demo. Its there as an easter egg. :)
Obelisk commented November 12, 2006 at 6:16 AM
Something about that was just great. This is probably one of my favorite GM games.
V commented November 12, 2006 at 6:22 AM
=D unbelievable how I managed so many fans all of a sudden... I knew I would be rewarded after all this hard work!
@squeakyreaper Kinda, I figured that the dark cloud story was boring, so I switched it to the current storyline and changed that last bit by adding a school to the left rather than empty space, and kept the original stuff, so you could say it was an easter egg... =P
@ObeLIsk I planned to get peoples attention with something pretty different rather than your usual platformer. =)

great: some comments:
song gets annoyingly repetitive (nvm caus its a wip). The coin appears above an enemy when it dies; if the enemy is bleow a surface the coin appears inside the surface. its not the keypad thats used for the spells, its the number keys along the top, the keypad doesnt do that, i checked, with num block on obviously, so dont refer to the keypad when thats not what has to be pressed, spelling misteak: "dungeoun"..... i give it 9/10. graphics & movement were excellent, also it would be good if the spell u cast follows where you are while you move.
Bozebo commented November 12, 2006 at 11:55 AM
oh and the preview pic looks retarded, i only came into this caus i thought it'd b some paint n00by one that i cld flame... lolz
Amarin commented November 12, 2006 at 12:54 PM
Hey guys. If you keep getting that error, then here:
http://www.downthemall.net ^This thing is for Firefox only, so get it if you do, dial-up or not.
And great game. =D
V commented November 12, 2006 at 5:38 PM
@ bozebo <_< I'm keepin' an eye on you... I realize the pic DOES look kinda stupid, but I got lazy on making a preview pic, so no complaining on that, and as for those problems, I'll look into them. I coulda swore that I got rid of that "use the keypad" text.. oh well. and song? what exactly do you mean? like the first area song or what? And as for the coin appearing inside of a block, I understand what you're saying, and I'll get right to work on that.
@mageknight53 thanks for that linky, I'll post it in the topic. =)
ludamad commented November 12, 2006 at 6:21 PM
Nice game, but it lacks polish a bit, the spellcasting is really nice though.
kevboh commented November 12, 2006 at 7:52 PM
Oh and also, please please please run this by someone to spell/grammar check it. I see so many games with spelling and grammatical errors, and it takes so much away from a game.

Also, don't reference other games in your instructions, and don't make references to the fact that the player is playing a game. Act like the player is the character. It adds so much.
Misconstruct commented November 12, 2006 at 9:12 PM
Wow, i'm going to a lot of trouble just to try this game. I have to download the newest version of Firefox, then download downthemall, and then download your game.... all on dial-up! But it sounds like it'll be worth it.

EDIT: Damn, my battery is almost dead and i'm too lazy to get my power cord out of my room. I'll try again later... again. lol
V commented November 12, 2006 at 10:23 PM
@luda thanks!
@kevboh I believe I'm going to do that when the game is almost complete, and I'll be sure to do that.
@Yaywalter well, GL with that. XD
Darktech commented November 12, 2006 at 11:14 PM

Where am I?
BassZ commented November 13, 2006 at 7:26 AM
This is indeed a cool game, Lots more needs to be done but definently i belive it shows promise
GameMakinRyan commented November 15, 2006 at 6:00 PM
Ehh, It's okay, although the spriting needs a lot of work, it kind of looks like the main character is skating with one foot when you run. Also, I don't like the stock CLICK sound when he lands, sounds kind of cheezy, also, the terrain/tiles need to be redone big time, but other than that, you see to have a solid enging going here. Keep it up son. 6/10
JID commented November 24, 2006 at 11:21 PM
Great Job I give you a 10/10!
Amarin commented November 25, 2006 at 5:03 PM
Oh, that's a Firefox extension. Not a mirror. I'll have a mirror up.
V commented November 27, 2006 at 4:01 PM
as for sounds and graphics, I WILL improve on them, especially the characters walking sprite, and the sounds will be changed to fit the game better, most of the sound is just for the current demo, and thanks everyone for the good ratings!
