Uncreative Title: Mini-update
Posted on August 21, 2013 at 22:25

Mini-update and vomit: This will probably be all over the place

I've been doing some smaller exercises in traditional media, but I still want to get into the flow of cranking out my ideas on digital. I think I've got the hang of a method I like now though:

*Tried my hand at a fancy sig.

I do want to research more into anatomy so I can start being more accurate with creating my own creatures and whatnot. Maybe I'll try creating my own skeletons for things like spiders and other cool forms.

Really digging that site to create white noise when I'm getting sick of my music playlists.

Also thinking about getting a new laptop for college. I've looked into them a little and I'm currently looking at this:
I could probably be okay with less though to save on cost, so any suggestions or recommendations are welcome.

Hanging out with close friends before college was pretty bittersweet. Now comes the boring month of waiting.

Lazy Rut Days

I haven't really done much these past two weeks, which is pretty disappointing. Hangouts, sleep, food, LoL, music, anime. You'll notice that art isn't really in there.

So I figure I'd post a couple of the things I've done / changed and use that as a springboard to getting me back on track. Also as a side note, Eva's art is pretty damn amazing (but you already know that), and was great for reminding me to at least do something each day.

Asked about the background to this awhile go in IRC and didn't really get a response from those online. Tried a few things but thought they were too messy and didn't really fit the pasty feel so I left it that way.

Then I tried something with a similar process but experimenting a bit more with color:

Really not sure what I think of this yet. I kind of just threw the color together, and I can't even type a decent commentary on that right now. I guess I just need to sit back and stare at the thing for a bit and decide what I'm going to do with it.

In other news, I have an enormous bug bite on my left hand near the knuckles, and now I can't curl my hand. It hurts like hell, especially when typing, and I can't play any instrument (guitar/bass/piano/drums) which is pretty annoying with music being one of my big hobbies.

Over a month 'til school starts and most of my peeps be leaving in the next few weeks, so it looks like a slower month up ahead.

Music, Minecraft, and Mobas

So I was digging around my old files and found some tracks I made for an old WIP I was doing 2-3 years ago:
Feel free to critique.

Maybe I'll give stuff like that another go sometime this summer. I'll probably be a lot better at it now.

In other news, I'm getting paid to build in Minecraft. A group of us builders for a network that I help out with here and there were asked to build stuff for a nice sum (4 digits for the team to play Minecraft is nice), and now we've got a queue of customers.

Sample that we're still working on:

And for the sake of a third alliteration, I went back to league (of legends) after a 2+ month break. Decay is a butt. Also apparently you can decay between tiers. Saddening.
I did try Dota 2 out a couple months ago and thought it was interesting, but I doubt I'll have time to play both.

Irony and Updates

Hey 64D.
Again it seems I only remember to pop back around when I do something related to the good ol' days with Gamemaker (Played a full game of Project Scarlet last night).

Quick advertisement.

"I'm surprised you didn't mention Scarlet. Do you still play that?" - Kamira
As always, I must mention Scarlet.

If you're still interested in playing SnY / Project Scarlet, feel free to add me on Skype (Echyion), just make sure you let me know who you are. Summer is usually when we start arranging games again and reliving the glory days, and we had 7 players last night / this morning.

On the slight chance that you did read, or will probably read my previous post, life indeed kicked me in the ass, at least in the context of ambition (I wasn't shot or something extreme so I can't be too melodramatic here).

I didn't get into the college I wanted to. It's not just the education, but also the enormous amount of connections I have there. It wasn't a huge deal to me until I visited for my brother's graduation, and met all the people I'd met previously through random encounters (Half my LoL team), friends that attend, friends of friends that know me, friends of my brother.etc and damn it was bittersweet.

Long story short, I realized pretty quickly why I didn't get in. Maybe I can do a good enough job BSing my way to plenty of other colleges, but for a school like CMU, turning in 30m-1hr work and Freshman/Sophmore exercises won't cut it.

Like I somewhat implied before, when I finally screw up, the regret and potential usually kicks my rear in gear. Seeing what I could've had really rubbed salt in my wounds. Since that time I've been slowly fixing my work ethic. I mean transferring is still somewhat of an option, but I need to actually earn it. So this summer will be and has been spent on creating a portfolio that accurately reflects my interests and potential, whether I decide to try to transfer or not.

So here's to a not half-assed ambition.

I'll be attending UCSD in the fall.

Oh, and on the topic of ambition, I found this hilarious. Let's go back ~6 years and re-experience why a 12 year old has problems on the internet.
I'm gonna quote that for years.

Insert deep thought here.
I'm hoping google led me to the right symbol/character.
#Whitewashed #Hashtagsmakemecool

I'm actually pretty damn lazy. I usually wait for inspiration when I have nothing to do (School), or I find something interesting visually or conceptually online. This came from reading something about the meaning behind the 8 ball in a certain position.

I guess I'm pretty cocky too, since life hasn't kicked me in the butt yet. I get away with ridiculous procrastination, and until I get smacked upside it probably won't change too much.

The consequences of incomplete deadlines probably motivate me to finish them, though only at the last moment in most cases.

What motivates you?

Modit: We'll leave this open for 24 hours in the hopes some interesting discussion will come out of it.
Oops. Gotta get back in the flow of 64D blogging guidelines.
Modit: No worries, friend.

It's Been Awhile

I can't believe I forgot about this place.
Here's what I've been up to.

Still love the concept, and might try it again when I have more spare time. We took the art, revamped, and played around with different concepts.
Example of one:

(Mind you this was before Terraria was announced, so it's pretty old.)
Character was also revamped (Comparing it with the old screenshot that was posted here), as well as numerous other things, before the entire project was put on indefinite hiatus.

I haven't done any pixel art in a long long time. Most of my time is spent on school, college portfolios (Cause I'm a youngster), anime/LNs, and LoL. Probably in reverse order.

So I just wanted to say hello again.

Example of recent work:
Originally it was a contrast between Green/Red (After watching .Hack//Quantum), but I messed around with colors and such and that's where I ended up.

Add me on LoL:
Ethelon II (ethelon ii)

I really ought to update my banner. It's atrocious.
