It's been a long while since I've been an active user around here... so I decided to crawl on back and release my latest game here: Spherack 2! Well... it's been out since October, that is, but now that I'm back, how about sending it here too?

It's an online multiplayer shooter game where you pick a side and kill off everyone on the other. It also has an "explosives" mode where one team plants a bomb and the other has to disarm it before they get severely pwned.

I just submitted it here, so expect it to be up soon, but if you're impatient you can get it from the game's site:

I'm also in the process of developing a new version of Spherack, which I will keep you all posted on as it progresses, but for now... hai :D

What would you like in Spherack Online?

I've come to a road-block in the development on my online platform shooter, "Spherack Online."

I've thought about things and I can't decide if I want to keep it a platform shooter... I'm thinking of changing it to a top-down shooter. The advantage of using a top-down-shooter instead of platform, would be that you can move around a bit more dynamically, dodge bullets and fire them differently too.

Also if I change to a TDS style game, online play will be able to support larger maps and less lag. Currently I have 1024x468 maps with 16x16 tiles so yeah, it can be a bit laggy.

Spherack currently supports two modes of gameplay;
-Team Deathmatch
-Explosives (one team plants a bomb while the other diffuses it)

I would like to ask you guys what you think I should do with the game; should I keep it a platform shooter, or should I convert it to a TDS?

Also if I change to a TDS, I could make a single player mode as TDS too, and maybe I could impliment NoodleNog's AI into it. Hm.

My birthday's in three days

Well as of now (June 6th, 2007) there are only three days left until my birthday which is on the ninth. Woo for finally being fifteen.

My mom and I went to the bike shop, because I desperately need a new bike for my birthday; I've been using my sister's for the past year... and I'm self conscious so every time I ride it I feel like an idiot. XD

There was this need bike made by the company named "Giant." It's their "Boulder" model and it's in silver and blue. It's really nice. I took it for a quick test-ride today, gear shift component was VERY nice, as well as the bike itself and how it rode. Front suspension was nice... and though I like how rear suspension feels, decided not to go with a bike with the rear suspension being it slows you down drastically. You can have a large-wheeled bike and be out-run by a small-wheeled bike even though you're wheezing you're pedaling so hard... that's how big of an effect rear suspension has. Plus it makes you look like one of Disney Land's "It's a Small World" dolls.

Luckily the one I want doesn't have rear-suspension. It's 249USD, but I really hope I get it. x3

I deleted my "Zappix Approach to Salt" video a few days ago, but people have been bugging me to put it back up. Unfortunately, I don't have the video file anymore, BUT Adam and I re-made the video with a new style. It even became a three-episode mini-series. (Check my YouTube Channel; link is above)

OH. Can't forget mentioning work on my Projects. Well let's see...

Yeah, I didn't get around to any work on Spherack or GML-Patch today. I've been weighed down with Finals and other schoolwork lately. I have my Spanish class finals going on in-school right now, and my science teacher is still giving us endless supplies of homework to prepare us for the Earth Science final. Ugh, even though it's nice of her to do this, it's still mean. Heh.

Hopefully I'll still have a computer after next week, being I'm borrowing this computer's motherboard from my friend's father. He wants it back, and I might not be able to purchase my own... depends on my birthday money. I found a nice motherboard and processor bundle for only $79 though. Very decent, I'm very pleased with the processor's FSB speed too.

The processor I'm using right now, though it's a Pentium 4 (2.1Ghz) it has a 133Mhz FSB, thus it's very slow and rather displeasing at times.

Anyway, now I must leave before my mom stabs me... yeah, gotta go to bed. I Hope we're allowed to post about our day and not just how we're programming things here. If the blog system here isn't really meant for this then sorry...

Well I finally just decided to make use of my account here being I have released GML Patch v3.0.0 a few weeks ago. I just submitted it here so hopefully we'll be seeing it. ^^

I've been working on a new interface for Spherack Online's server window. It now uses transparency so only the main area of the window can be seen. It also uses a really nice button script I found while browsing the GMC. Looks really nice so far. <-- there's a pack of screen-shots if you please. I've changed it a bit since then; the screen-shots were taken last night and I'm too lazy to make new ones. I've finished the map tab, as well as user management and weather effects. User management was really annoying to make mainly because I forgot you can use arguments in scripts... >>;;

The new Spherack Menu UI is planned to look like that. It's currently Marbs' Racer Online menu design (he gave it to me) and no offense but it's getting boring... I'll also be adding a "favorite servers" tab and maybe a few other things. I want to get a master server listing up but I keep procrastinating to build my own. If anyone wants to help me out with that then that would be appreciated. =P

GML-Patch v3.0.1 I plan to use that same silver-ish design again just without the tabs. I'm thinking up of cool things to add to the system in my sleep.

Also I have good news! In the next few weeks I plan to get Spherack Online to OPEN BETA status. That'll be cool, yes. Then you all can finally see what I've been working on since February.

Anyway that's all for now... my mum's yelling at me to go to bed @_@
