NaNoWriMo

Hey guys, I was only planning to blog again once I released Diver, but once more, that's taking a lot longer than I anticipated, due to life in its various forms getting in the way. But I'll talk more about that in my next blog (whenever I get around to posting that).

Anyway, I'm writing this to inform you guys that National Novel Writing Month, being November, is just around the corner in this twisting hallway of time. For those who don't know, the idea is to write a 50 000 word novel in 30 days. It's a lot of fun, and I completed it last year, but be warned, it's very time-consuming.

Incidentally, I won't be doing it this year. I have too much stuff going on in my life at the moment, so I really don't have time for a month-long writing binge, as much as I'd like to.

However, some of you may have a bit more free time than I do, so I encourage you to have a look at it, and maybe give it a shot. Even if you've never written anything before in your life, now would be a good time to try this writing stuff out. And if you do like writing stuff, I definitely recommend you do it, for the practice.

On that note: believe me, it's worth doing for the practice alone. Ever since last November, I feel my writing abilities have greatly improved. They say you need to put 10 000 hours into practicing something before you truly master it, and considering the all-consuming nature of NaNoWriMo, it's a good way to take care of a chunk of those hours.

So then, if I've convinced you - or if you've made up your mind independently - head on over to the site (here's that link again) and sign up! Then give a novel idea some thought, and prepare your word-processor. Maybe buy a spare keyboard, just in case.

Oooh I think I'll do it this time, I didn't hear about it until it was too late last year. Either that or I was too busy, I can't remember.

Unless random rambling is easier to write than a decent story, it shouldn't take no longer than 2 weeks for me to write something.

Not that I've ever written anything that's 50,000 words before. :S

It took 2 days to write my 8000 word blog, but over a week in rewrites. :3

Edit: Fuck it, I'm doing it.

I wrote something 3000 words long in one night this one time.

3000*30=90000. I should be able to get almost two of these done, ha! I might actually try this.

Excellent! I'm sure you guys'll really have a lot of fun! I know I did. At the expense of everything else going on in my life.

I'm a fast typer and thinker so I should have no trouble finishing without using up all my free time =p I have a bit of experience with writing too =]

I think I will try this NaNoWriMo. Similarly to Kabobby, I remember hearing about it last year when it was too late. I am not sure if I will have enough free time to do it all, but I suppose if I replace all the time I spend playing games with writing, I stand a good chance. :D
