Tristesse.sid

Composed by DRAX (a.k.a. Thomas Mogensen) in 1994. It's probably my favorite Commodore 64 tune, despite how short the tune is.

I've tried remixing this tune about 6 or 7 seven and I've never quite been happy with it. The first one is on RKO (here), but that was my first try. It's kind of cringeworthy, but I had only been making music for some months at this point, in 2008.

Then we have this one, which was made in 2009. A bit better arrangement-wise, but still not great. Has a nice drive to it at the chorus, but technically has a lot of flaws. Badly mixed.

In between these and after I've made a lot of attempts, but those never even made it into mp3-form.

Here is the newest one:

I think this one is much better. Basic arrangement, and I use a lot of tricks that I've learned since, regarding mixing. Let me know what you think. It's not quite finished, but I'll finish it pretty soon.

Oddly enough, I think I like your first remix the most. Not that the newest one isn't good. It feels very… modern retro. The first one felt like a more modern version that doesn't alter any of the original style.

I like both.

The newest one certainly has better editing.

But your older version hits a great nostalgia nerve- Like Sonic CD or something.

Cesque's terminology.

But reversed. Because that makes the most sense.
