Here's a prototype of a 3D project I was working on. I have cancelled the project now, there were too much hassle with shaders (the game look different in AMD's and Nvidia's graphics cards), plus the collision detection is not very smart.
Tell me if you get it working.
It's supposed to look something like this, in AMD's drivers (image only slightly outdated, I changed the stage model, that's it):
Even though I abandoned this project, the effort was not in vain. I learned to make a simple 3D collision detection, simple lighting (that does not work very well, though), optimize stuff, and most importantly, write 2D drawing routines in OpenGL (not shown in the gif, but the engine actually supports drawing bitmaps and bitmap regions). I will probably make a 2D game engine in OpenGL next, who knows?
