[2d] New Blog Entry

Posted by 2Dcube on July 21, 2008, 7:03 p.m.

Uhm. So I released "Pazzon" (of which I showed screenshots in my previous entry). Check it out.

Also I just released a new demo of my very old (but still cool) game "Leviathan", which is basically Death Worm at sea. Check it out.

I've also updated my website if you're interested: check it out.

Hah, Pazzon was great. Did you make the music?

I'm about to try Leviathan.

Edit: Leviathan was amazing man. Most addicting game I've ever played. Great job man.

@Bryan: Don't criticize the great 2Dcube!

I'm just going to throw this out here for a sec…

i find it extremely funny that this guy(don't remember his name) posted a Death Worm clone awhile back and got flamed the hell out of. And here is 2DCube a more popular and respected member posted a Death Worm clone and he gets praised. I'm sorry but to me that's pretty funny ;P. Other than that the game was a fun remake :P

@above

Well it's a pretty different game, but I admit I got heavily inspired by Death Worm (long ago). I'm not sure which clone you mean but I've seen one that was just a copy, so the criticism in that case would sound fair to me.

Thanks for trying people!

Interesting story:

A number of months before JTR created Death Worm, Unc1354m of the South African Game.Dev community ( http://www.gamedotdev.co.za ) created "Killer Worm".

In this game, there was a mouse-operated arrow on the ground, and a worm would pop up over the arrow and devour stuff when you clicked the mouse button. JTR saw this game somewhere (think it was on The Great Games Experiment), and it inspired Death Worm, a psuedo-clone that was, admittedly, much better than what it cloned.

However, Death Worm's enormous popularity caused Unc1354m to lose heart and give up on Killer Worm II, as people would've thought it a clone of Death Worm, even though the opposite was true.

Moral of the story: Come to think of it, there isn't really a moral here.

I much preferred your old site design

It's still there actually, but it's now divided into 2 sections (the "old" portfolio, and a new so-called "GamesGallery").

Interesting story F1ak3r, I think this often happens with any art or design, but it's usually not as obvious.
