Halloween game WIP

This is my first blog post on 64digits, I joined this site so I could participate in the Scary Game competition.

The game I am creating for the competition is called Witch War (working title). The game play will be familiar to those who play Magic the Gathering. I am modeling it after the Duels of the Planeswalker game (not the new version, but the version of the game that was released back in 1998). http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/magicthegatheringdotp/index.html

Some of the major difference between my game and Magic the Gathering, is that you don't have a deck of cards. Instead you have a wand that can hold 5 spells. You don't use up a spell, so you can cast it as many times as you want until you run out of magic. And your magic pool is based off of your level instead of playing lands.

Here a couple of screenshots of the game so far.

It has been slow going so far, but I started implementing the AI for the CPU, so hopefully it will start coming together over the next couple of days.

Pro tip: Get rid of the blue background as quickly as possible.

You're still using a decade-old operating system?

Are you on a netbook?

My entire school (which I've left) still used XP up until this September, it's still a valid option.

Shitty school computers with budget cuts != home computer

At least get rid of that ugly blue theme. Fisher-price-esque.

My school computers have XP, but they've been installing Windows 7 recently, which seems to have been a horrible decision because they can't even handle it without freezing up now and then.

Yes.

The title screen is just place holder graphics for now…even the name is just a working name, not sure if that is what the final name is going to end up being. (Actually all the graphics are just place holder, while I am trying to get the game functioning…though do to time constraints they may end up being the actual graphics)

As far as Windows 7, meh I haven't seen any reason to upgrade my computer from XP. The only reason I would upgrade is if I get a new computer.
