Buyin Games and Stuff

I'm hopefully going to get Civilization 5 GOTY edition this weekend cause its on sale for 75% off on steam. You guys should get it then we could have a Civ 5 marathon or something, I don't really know how the multiplayer works except that it probably takes forever =p

I'm hoping to get Pikmin 2 Wii when it comes out in June. Pikmin 2 is one of my favorite games ever so a widescreen wii version is worth $20 new =p Speaking of pikmin, Pikmin 3 info is coming at e3 =D

Anyway, I'm currently in the 2nd to last day of my first summer class =D Although I'll miss being able to work on CheeseMod/websites during class =p

For some insane reason, I don't have enough credits so I'm going to have take 2 more extra classes in addition to the ones required for my major/minor. I dunno why though, I've taken more extra classes than most people I know because I switched my major and minor after taking multiple classes for them.

But it looks like the best option is Spanish since I'm already kinda familiar with it. I dunno if I'll go Spanish 1 and 2 or do Spanish 1 and something else =/ So in the end I'll have taken 5-6 foreign language classes <_<

I'm so glad I didn't go to school that forced foreign language on me. For mine, I just have to take a foreign acquaitance/multicultural credit, so I took cultural anthropology. My favorite class so far!

Well most majors I know of only require 2 foreign language classes, but since website design falls under the department of communications at my college we have to take twice as many =/

If you take Japanese you can play the Japanese games before they are released in America :)

I have Civ 4, and I still play it. After seeing Civ 5 networked, as juju said, I was put off buying it, unless I really want to (And I don't. I'm perfectly OK with Civ 4).

I decided a few years ago to try Japanese, but I couldn't get much further than Konichiwa, Domo Arigato and… nothing else actually. Meh. I recognize a few of the Katakana letters.

My original reasoning was, of course:

We're having a civ 4 game tonight, with Seleney, LAR, myself, and maybe-but-not-likely Shinsei, on the TS night.

I bought civ 5 for them, since it was on sale, but now I'm kinda worried. I never got into civ 5, or even played multiplayer. I've played a lot of civ 4 multiplayer though, and I love it.

The whole turn-based thing is simpler if you simply built up your cities, and only do battle in cities. Then there's no chasing-the-other-unit-around-the-map.

Also, what happens when a turn based game lags online? =P

All turns are simultaneous

Simultaneous in the same way civ 4 was simultaneous, or a different way? In civ 4, turns can be simultaneous, but no one else saw your move until you ended your turn (and in fact, everyone had ended their turn), so there was no possibility for lag.

Is civ 5 like some kind of RTS/TBS hybrid?

In multiplayer it is. Literally the worst design decision in the history of turn-based gaming.

What. The. Fuck. That is so sad. SO SAD.
