DS + AC WW: WHY?

Posted by Knightwing50 on Aug. 23, 2006, 1:53 p.m.

Have money and first time I don't know what to do with it. Thinking about getting a DS with Animal crossing but need some Q's answered first.

Q1. Is it worth getting a DS just to play AC WW?

Q2. Why is AC WW so talked about (i.e. What makes it so good)?

Q3. Is there any other good games for the DS?

Sorry if a bit short but need these Q's answered before I commit my money to it.

1:If you like the original

2: It's good but it's talked about most for Wi-Fi. You don't need it to enjoy the game

3.Mario Kart"DS and others. look at game reviwes and see if there any games you'd like not basing your opition on the score

Good games for DS: Mario Kart DS, New Super Mario Bros, Metroid Prime Hunters and Wario Ware Touched.

^^ Exactly what he said, except that I've never played WarioWare. Also, even if you're not a big fan of Turn-Based Strategy (as I'm not), Advance Wars: Dual Strike is an incredibly addictive game with some sweet multiplayer options (no Wi-Fi, but DS vs. DS with one or two game cards, or person vs. person with one DS!).

Yes, a DS is an excellent choice. I got one for my birthday this year (May 24th), and I've bought six games: Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (fun, but horribly slow engine), New Super Mario Bros. (fun, but short), Animal Crossing: Wild World (fun, retarded, and addictive all in one!), Advance Wars: Dual Strike (addictive and awesome), Brain Age (fun for awhile, gets old quickly), and Metroid Prime: Hunters (harder than your normal American FPS…multiplayer [DS vs. DS one/two cards and Wi-Fi] is AWESOME, though).

As to what makes AC:WW so awesome, it's the fact that everyone in the generation younger than me seems to highly enjoy doing "chore-sy" type tasks in games (i.e. Runescape). I don't like this kind of retardedness; I like games that you can sit down, play, beat, and then take online and pwn the souls of n00blets worldwide (hence, my obsession with First-Person Shooters). However, AC:WW is worth taking a look at. I mean, me, the super-über-FPS-fan likes it, so you should too. Yes, I too was skeptical at first. But while at my summer workshop at DigiPen (see my blog) everyone had AC:WW, and they were all going to each other's towns and such, so I thought it'd be worth trying out. It was.

It's doubly fun if you have younger siblings who want to play, because four people can live in your house (three plus you). It's fun making your siblings water the four million flowers you planted (and threatening to evict them if they don't) [^^]

Also, as to whether you should get a DS or a DS Lite…it depends. Do you like the Xbox Controller S? If so, you'll like the DS. Do you like the Gameboy Advance SP? If so, then you'll like the DS Lite. DS Lite's screen is almost TOO bright, plus it's incompatable with the DS and GBASP chargers, so…meh. It looks cool though. I have a DS, and my brother has a Lite. I prefer the DS…but I have relatively large hands.

Whew, that has to be a record for longest response to a blog ever. Why did I do it? I'm doing volunteer work and it's boring [^^]

It's okay unless you want objectives and a purpose, but there are some pretty good games out like MPH, Lost in Blue, LostMagic, Brain Age, and pretty soon Children of Mana, FF3 and a StarFox game.

DS rules. It has some great games coming out for it, and already has great games (Mario Kart DS, Meteos, Nanostray, Metroid Prime: Hunters, New Super Mario Bros, and many others)

I've heard rumors of MapleStory coming out for it…

No, that would kill everything.

Don't buy MapleStory.
