Introduction + Game Plan

Hello. I'm new here and taking part in the RPG contest. I usually go by the name "Knighty". but that name was taken, so now I'm MetaKnighty.

The only time I actually finish and release games are during competitions. Having a deadline makes me work harder, so this contest is a great opportunity for me.

I'm a fan of JRPG's, mostly from the SNES and PlayStation era, so my game will probably turn up somewhat similar to those.

I'm not a fan of random encounters, so I'm going to use an Earthbound-style encounter system, where you can see the enemies before you fight them.

My idea for the battle system is a card-based and non turn-based system.

First thing I'll start working on the battle system, to see if my idea will actually work.

I consider myself a competent artist. I like my games to look good so this should be good practice for me.

I can't make music at all, but I want to work on my game a bit before I ask for a musician. I think it'll be easier to find someone if I have a game to show, and they know exactly what kind of game they'll be making music for.

I'll be making my game with ActionScript3 and Flashpunk.

I'm planning on making a new blog post once every 2 weeks detailing my progress, assuming I made any progress those weeks.

I didn't start working on my game until today because I was busy with other stuff, but 4 days shouldn't make such a difference considering the length of the competition.

Good to see a variety of game engines being used for this competition. I'm not really a game designer, but I'm still interested to see games made with different platforms and how they will turn out.

welcome!
