Zune HD

So after a few drops, one finally managed to break my Zune HD. Or maybe it was the part where I accidentally hurled it at the wall that got it, I dunno. But it's broke.

So what do you do with broken electronics? Take them apart! Without screwdrivers of any sort, I had to take it apart by hand. Fun stuff.

So I'm in the market for a new MP3 player. I have several options:

I could get another beautiful Zune HD, which would be the most convenient option since I wouldn't have to switch to iTunes. But that's a little boring. Even if the Zune HD's great, I like change for the sake of change sometimes. $349.

I could get an iPod Touch. Only problem is HOLY FUCK 400 DOLLARS FOR 64 GB?! But other than that, it's a solid option. I'm especially interested in the high-res display. $400.

…Or I can get an iPod Classic for leisure and iPod Shuffle for exercise. With 160 gb to work with, I wouldn't have to be so picky about what music and podcasts I carry with me. But I'd also have to keep updating the 2 GB Shuffle with new music, so that'd be fairly annoying. The iPod Classic doesn't have a big beautiful display like the Zune HD or the iPod Touch, but the only thing I really utilized my HD's screen for was looking at hentai. Which I could still do with the Classic, just not as nicely. $300.

Of course there are other options, but these are the 3 main ones I'm considering. What do you folks think?

I have an Ipod touch, buts its the cheap one with almost no-memory, it's pretty decent but then again I have massive periods where there are songs that are the only ones I listen too and at these times I delete everything else on my Ipod, for me it's good because when I go off a song it gets deleted meaning I never have many songs on my Ipod at once, if you want something with a big memory though and like a big screen, then I think your best option or though not the cheapest, is the Ipod Touch. :D

Hmmm, nice haha. Although I do agree that the zune is much more appealing eye-candy-wise, I do really like my iPod Touch… 4th generation? idk the latest one.

It is packed full of features, and is real smooth with its touch screen sensitivity. Also, the web browsing is probably the best on that thing. It also has the dual cameras (which take sucky pictues), but it can take movies in decent quality (cause its .mov). Nice web browsing, a few good games, and yeah the resolution is really nice.

But thats my opinion on the Touch. I never owned a Zune myself, but I have to say that the Touch is probably apple's greatest creation(and the only one i would buy :P)

Oh one other thing Ipod Touchs are pretty hard to open without a screwdriver :P

I don't get why people need 64GB of music.

Nowait, let me rephrase: I don't get why people need to have literally over 9000 songs on their iPods.

Yeah, even with my Library of 2034+plus (buyingsongsnow) I only flip through about 50 every week.

I support the destruction of Microsoft developed hardware though, five points dude!

There's a lot of good music out there. I understand that you're not gonna listen to every single song every single day, but it's much easier just to be able to have it all with you than it is to have to keep managing what songs your mp3 has on it manually.

Plus it's not just music. My podcasts could take up to 50+ GB alone.

That said, I'm leaning heavily towards option 3. It's by far the cheapest, and in a lot of ways, gives me more. I don't need the HD radio of the Zune HD and I don't need the cameras, apps or hi-res display of the iPod Touch. With option 3 I get more storage space, and more cumulative battery life. I'm still considering the iPod Touch, but I think the Zune HD is pretty much ruled out.

How in the fk do you have/listen to that much music!?

If you're a big music fan it's not unreasonable to have a library well over 100 GB.

My music folder is only 54 GB right now, but there are many good songs that I don't have.

My podcast folder is a whopping 76 GB. What can I say? I'm addicted.

Bump for resolution. Since I'm leaving Great Lakes on Wednesday, I'd have to wait until then before I could even consider ordering anything online. So I decided I'd let my local Navy Exchange decide for me. If they had the Classic, I'd go with option 3. If they didn't, I'd go with option 2. They didn't.
