K'Kai Adventure

You guys ever recall some random obscure game you played way back when (perhaps a Game Maker project), and you go to try and find it for nostalgia's sake… but you just can't remember the name?

I've been plagued by that problem for the past several years, trying to remember the name of a silly little adventure game I once played on my dusty old Macintosh back in my tweens.

Well today, I *finally* found that game. It's Kaunakakai Adventure, an adventure game made in HyperCard by a teacher and his/her students at Kaunakakai Elementary.

Now if only I could remember the name of that random PC game that I never actually played, but only gazed at the box art while my age was still well in the single digits… yeah, I think that one's a lost cause.

But hey, if any of you guys know of an early 90s (I'm guessing) PC game involving a space ship, yellow lasers and polygonal red environment (I think)… lemme know.

That aside, it's time for…

Pk: Probability of Kill, my current project…

Well, I haven't really made any significant progress yet. No progress since my last blog entry. I'm reconsidering what kind of game I want to make it be.

Tactics-style games and RTSes are a dime a dozen. And while those genres are well-suited to a simple radar console-style display, I think the primary idea of my game is taking the role of a radar operator aboard one ship. So I want to make the gameplay more localized to that one ship, rather than have you managing an entire fleet RTS-style.

Right now, I'm looking at old naval simulation games such as Task Force 1942 for inspiration on where I want to go with Pk. It may even turn into an RPG of sorts.

We'll see. In the mean time, I'm also dicking around with Blender.
