Word Vomit

I SHOULD be in class right now, but I think I can survive missing the first few minutes or so.

My girlfriend had to go away to training for five days (sadface.jpg), but as a parting gift, she bought me Assassin’s Creed 3 to keep me busy :3

I very much like the storyline and how it ties in with all the historical stories I’ve heard growing up. That said, Connor is a much more “high profileâ€? assassin. Most missions seem to have me running in, slaughtering a bunch of red coats, and then basically moving on. There seems to be less stealth going on, and I’m not sure I like that. So far, whenever I’ve gone to assassinate specific targets I’ve had the option of moving in stealthily and pulling off some kind of amazing air assassination and whatnot, but other than that it’s just a lot of me putting myself in plain view, blowing stuff up for everyone to see.

Now for the worst of it…the engine is atrocious. I don’t know why, but they basically revamped the controls and remade the whole engine. This leads to simpler, less satisfying free-running controls. Not only that, but the free running is BUGGY. More often than not I end up jumping in completely the opposite direction of where I want to go. They did change up the combat system for the better. It’s a bit more complex than simply timing a counter. Now you have to first “blockâ€? an attack, and then combo that with another button depending on if you want to counter or disarm them. Fights over all are more fun, and the addition of a hatchet just makes that aspect of the game even better.

Overall, it’s a pretty decent game. It doesn’t have me unable to put it down like the previous ones, but I’m enjoying it nonetheless.

I’ve been trying to get inspired for a few weeks now to start up some sort of project, but every time I sit down to start I just lose interest. I’m not sure if it’s just from me being tired or trying to avoid all unnecessary mental processes, but either way it’s quite annoying. I thought about making a Smash Bros style fighter just for kicks. Might turn into something my family would enjoy if I were able to take it to completion. I just need something to respark my inner developer so I can work on the ideas I’ve had floating around my head.

I suppose before that I should be working on this virtual file system for my OS class though…considering it’s due in like 5 days or something like that.

Ah well.

I really wanna play all the S4D entries. Once I have the time I’ll probably just machine gun through them. I did take some time to play Rez and Luda’s game yesterday during my break, and it was fantastic. The controls felt good, the art looked great, and were it that I could hear the music, I’m sure I would’ve found it pleasant as well. I made it to act 2, but then had to stop because I was 10 minutes over on my break. Were I better at those types of games, I’d probably attempt to beat act 2 as well.

I have to do a speech on like the 26th or something like that about the core differences between Windows 8 and Windows 7. I’ll probably post an analysis of the two on here within the next two weeks or so, and you guys could perhaps critique? I’m gonna need all the help I can get, because I honestly don’t know all that much about the innards of Windows.

This blog has kind of just been a word vomit, but I needed some sort of mental exercise that didn’t revolve around infinite series and harmonic motion.

Until next time!
