RunnerMan, Rope physics and Perlin noise

Posted by jellyfish on March 5, 2007, 2:39 p.m.

Well, I was bored over the weekend, so in lieu of doing homework I finished this silly thing:

click

Also I made a demo saturday night on how to do perlin noise in 33 minutes (first attempt, booyah) whose gm6 is here.

And on sunday I did rope physics… click

I'll post some old gm6 and exe work later.

Hmm. None of the links are working for me…

The running thing looks pretty cool though.

The rope physics is very cool.

I fixed all your links. Our [[blk]url] tag doesn't use "s.

I didn't quite get perlin,I thought it was going to be coded sound or something…

RopePhysics is awsome, you should release it as an example.Though in midvalue, just code it as return (argument0+argument2)*(argument1-argument0);since the timer is the world, right? Also, viscosity and elasticity need some work, but ya,I'm sure you know that.

RunnerMan was nice,I'd like to know how you made the floor code, more so if it's effiecent.I got 300,as I rolled back 4 while being killed.

Runner man is good, highest score was about 300, lowest was -59 [:P]. Rope physics was awesome, but as serpex said the viscosity and elasticity need to be improved. Also, if you make the rope segments 1 pixel long, it handles really unrealistically. Still great though.

Is there a way to tell the end x and y of the rope? Or like… Er, making a flail would be hard..
