Bloom! And Stuff

Posted by skarik on Jan. 14, 2008, 8:59 p.m.

Well, while doing my homework which I'm doing even though it's due around the time of never, I decided to copy and paste some open source goodness, assuming you guys actually want to copy and paste *OH GOD THE HUMANITY* a couple *MY HAND! OH GOD MY HAND!* actually pretty nice *AHH!! IT'S BLEEDING!!!*

Okay, I'm sorry, but apparently the other person lodged in my head decided to type while I was typing. Kinda funny since I haven't spoken to that person since English class. Which actually is all lies: I actually typed it. All lies - except for the English class part. I mean, she did help me on my essay, or I was seeing things- and hearing things-

Anyways,

Requires Pixel Shader version 1.4!

And DirectX 8.1!

The Download Link:

Newest Version-

Currently, it has:
  • Animated Volumetric Fog
  • Volumetric Light
  • A Cheap way to fix 'in the volume' problems
  • Normal Mapping + Light Mapping + Real-time Lighting
  • Attempt at volumetric explosions
  • Super bloom (previously thought impossible in U3d!)
Things to do:
  • Full Distortion Example
  • Bright Water iznot™*
  • Character Animation using reference models
  • Shadows*
* = a must come

Screenshots:

^ Graphics are okay. My real game looks better. Meh #3765.

Oh, and by the way, for some reason, to many I suck real bad. Oh well. At least I can equally blow. *Sigh*

Oh yeah, I revived NightWolf Gaming! And got a team! All in 5 days!

OL and I were discussing bloom today. It's usually not worth the lag, but there are plenty of ways you can cheap it out.

Yessss, but my version uses

POST SCREEN SHADERS!!!

And only 3 passes: blur, blur, add! Removing the blur steps would let it be just as good! :D

Looks great, but a bit inaccurate. Keep it going, k? :)
