This game I animated for got released.

The game's called Momodora 2. It's a quaint little metrovania, should only be a hour long for the first playthrough. I'd say if you were to describe the principles of its design, it would epitomize the word breeze. Momo, the player, is a lithe little thing and the level design encourages a rapid pace. It's been receiving good reception. According to most people, it has solid gameplay mechanics, nice music, and that the game vastly improves on the first Momodora.

I was involved with doing all the animations, but I didn't make the base sprites. I didn't really try as hard as I could've on the animations either. I wanted to aim for this sort of spasmodic feeling for the little characters for humor, but later on, I just got lazier and lazier, heh.

You can check it here~

Argh, I got somehow stuck after the first boss. I'm not entirely sure whether I'm lost or just suck at making hard jumps, because the area after the boss does require one annoying jump to proceed, so maybe with superb timing you can reach some of the areas I can't, but I gave up.

Cool animations. I don't think any comparisons to Cave Story are necessary :)

And hooray for being credited as "some of my friends".

That jump. You don't make it. You don't have the upgrade for it yet. I told him to make it clearer but he never did, heh.

Another question, then: What do I do after beating the second boss the first boss a second time? I have the dash upgrade, I found all the shrines, hell, I found some top-secret chest sealed by a dark power, and still, I have no idea what to do. The top pathway is blocked by that force field I can't cross :(

Did you pray at all the shrines? You have to hold down DOWN in front of you until it gives you a message. The force field unlocks after you prayed at them all. Just holding down for a second won't change things.

That was a fun game. I liked it. Not too hard, not too easy, just a bit short :)

However - BUG REPORT

After getting the upgrade for my… 'gun' (I got it when my ammo was 0), my ammo remained at 0, thus I had to restart the game. Also, when I restarted the game, the sound for swinging the sword remained muted. After restarting the game again everything was working again. :)

That aside, I couldn't figure out how to open the chest that was sealed by a dark force or something, so I decided to decompile the game (yes, sue me >_>). It turns out that chest is just there for the lulz. Damn it <_<

So can you still decompile GM8.1 games?

Damn, that game is missing a lot of explanations.

And speaking of bugs, the game becomes a bug-fest when you die. The creator fell prey to one of the most popular GM overlooks of all time, "delete the player object while bullets are still looking for it".

I reached what appears to be the final boss and killed the first two phases but for whatever reason the energy ball seems impossible to deflect after so long. Also, I can only get 93% of the map. What's up with that? My guess is that it may end with a Metroid/Cave Story escape sequence, but don't tell me if I'm right.
