Crossroad in Project

Wow, my first blog in a long time =O

I've reached a "crossroad" in my GM project, I can't decide which way to do this, so I'll see what others think is best.

This game really involves 2 characters, the main one, and another that appears many times during the game, but I can't decide which way to do it with that second character.

Option 1: Make his appearances automatic

Pro-Easier for the player, who wouldn't have to figure out how to solve a puzzle.

Cons-More variables to code for his movements, creates several cutscene-ish breaks in the gameplay

Option 2: Make the ability to control the character

Pros-Easier to code as everything from the main character can pretty much be copied over, adds more variety to the game

Cons-Possibility of variables connected to the first character conflicting

Which, in your opinion, would be best?

The second,make use of parenting.

However,I suggest you make a theme or something so that the secondary character has this weird feel to it.
