My first blog post.

I didn't want to post until I had something to show for it, so here we are, my second composition: http://soundcloud.com/beauwright/bustling-town

Hello to everyone.

Yay trombone, I've been playing euphonium for over 6 years.

I love that instrument. So much easier to reach those high Gs. Beautiful tone too.

I always had an easier time with high notes on trombone, but that's probably because the mouthpiece I use for my euphonium is a Schilke 58 (Significantly larger than a standard trombone/euph mouthpiece). Not too noticeable until high C though in terms of ease.

Ah, have you been writing using a computer for long? I find that when switching to a new tool (even to a different composition program), the first compositions you write in it are actually rather uncharacteristic of your style. I look forward to hearing what you've written after a few more tries.

I've had it all of 3 days. I want to score video games and films, so I decided to get something that would theoretically let me. Cheaper than buying all the instruments. Been reading up on contemporary music theory and composition. All of my training is in Jazz and classical horn.

What books have been reading? I can share some good theory books and other good educational material I've accumulated if you're interested.

A.Schoenberg - Fundamentals of Musical Composition, Bret Willmott - Complete Book Of Harmony Theory & Voicing, and Miller Puckette - Theory and Techniques of Electronic Music, to start. But any help would be appreciated, I went and checked out some of your music, beautiful pieces. Very soothing.

neat song, very well written. i love the atmosphere the synths add, along with that skittery beat. the "repetitiveness" of the chords actually kinda works well (in this instance at least), it reminds me of the slow build-ups in post-rock, which really aren't too far from trance/electronica. my kind of music ^_^

Hello, welcome!

Nice track. It's got an air of relaxed optimism. It's quite soothing.

Hello. I'm a bit late but it looks like you're using soundcloud which is cool because I add people from here onto soundcloud then listen to the most recent tracks on my phone.
