Renaissance

It's been over a year since I've posted anything here, or anywhere really.

I just had the random inkling to come back because I've been missing being a part of a community that shares similar interests, I suppose I left because it seemed more and more like nobody was interested in game design any longer.

Anyways, I'm still in college, nothing has really changed in the last year, although an RPG iteration of Credence Filter rose and fell in that time.

Speaking of which, good news - I'm on Credence Filter attempt #6 this time and it's going splendid, here's some things.

Each iteration of this game conceives a more ridiculous (albeit more optimized) lighting engine, this one currently has bloom and cool glitchy effects going on. I'll probably add more before it's all said and done.

So it's good to be back, I guess. I'll probably stick around if I see enough fresh faces and game design.

In other news, my grandfather just burnt down my front porch because he's a dipshit and doesn't know how to put out a cigarette.

I like the lens flare effect. Are you by chance using a particular platform engine by chance? Assuming you are using game maker…

Also, I like how Cyrus speaks for the entire 64digits as if he owns the fucking place dammit.

which imo has left Game Maker in the dust for most of us.
I hear you. I pretty much switched to using exclusively Unity, apart from a UE4 project I'm fiddling around with, mostly because GM doesn't quite do what I need it to anymore. I still use it for some lighter projects though, because it's still my favorite tool for pixel-based games.

Nice pixels Charlo. I can't wait to see some of the levels laid out, so we can see what this new version is all about.

Thanks for all the comments, guys.

I am still using Game Maker, I've taken a different path than the rest of you it seems, where instead of getting past Game Maker, I've gotten past being ashamed of using Game Maker.

Alert, everything in this is built from the ground up by myself. I'm not using anyone else's code for anything other than a shader script for creating the bloom effect via gaussian blur, because shaders confuse the piss out of me.

I still use GM Charlie. That's my goto shit. I can use Unity, Allegro, OpenGL, HTML5 Canvas and a whole bunch of other libraries, IDEs, and tools. I am technically "past" GM but I don't give a fuck about a tool. I love making games and experiences.

Ok fixed.
Now I'm trying to figure out if I've misread your comment or not………
