[DSG] FUCK. [update#2]

Posted by DSG on Dec. 2, 2010, 3:54 a.m.

ok. basically, depths is on my handy dandy flash drive. and now, the flash drive RANDOMLY isnt being recognised by any computer i own. FUCK. THIS. SHIT. ill probly have to send my usb to someone who can extract the data off of it. ill keep you folks updated.

[EDIT:]

No progress. Maybe I'll just start over. Again. loljkidkfuck.

[EDIT:]

OH well, Guess I'll start from 2 months ago. I have to re-program in the ledges…. fuck.

OH, but today, I decided to re-pixel the protagonist. FINALLY Stopped being lazy. He is no longer all black and no longer blends into doors and dark backgrounds. I had to resprite every single animation of him running, climbing, jumping, turning, standing, crouching, etc. In-game, the suit looks much more… suit like. It's got lights and its shiny and looks like armor not just spandex haha

And, I was thinking, it'd only make sense to give him a kind of breathing apparatus. I mean, he is on an alien world.

[EDIT:]

Trying to get as much that I lost back as possible. Luckily, I had a copy of the most recent version of the tile set for this area. Check out his new suit, really does a lot, doesn't it?

PhotoRec to the rescue!

It works quite well for recovering files off of jump drives in my experience. It does almost all files, too, not just images.

*trolololol*

You were never going to release it anyway. You only have slightly more of a chance than Platformed.

You're a fucking idiot. No, I'm sorry, working on anything on a flash drive is a stupid idea, using it as your only working copy? That's fucking retarded. There's no excuse. Maybe you'll learn something and back up your shit next time, because while you have a decent chance at data recovery, there's a non-insignificant chance your drive is simply dead and no longer contains the data. It happens, that's the limitation of solid state memory right now.

Well, as for now, that's it for Depths. The back up is 2 months old. I DON'T WANT TO DO ALL THAT WORK AGAIN.

We all knew it wasn't getting finished, depths was the 2d platformer version of making a popular MMORPG in a week and getting thousands of subscribers.
