Old Net Back, New Net System

After spending a few days getting all my stuff moved into my new apartment, getting furniture moved in, and waiting for DSL to take root, I've now mostly finished my moving! It feels good to be done with all that stuff… even after moving back and forth between college and home multiple times years before, I am still amazed at how it seems like you really don't have much stuff until you have to move it!

Expectedly, progress on Evolites has slowed down a bit, but I have gotten some of the more important things done in my online downtime; it really pays to have your computer set up as a web server!

The account system (which will be easily expandable to work with just about any type of online game that does not require an active server) has been created, and is working nicely. I will be adding in functionality for Evolites soon, so players can upload and download others' Evolites, and the game will be able to download predators from the net as well.

Eventually, the account system will let games that are made to work with it create server listings (like Hover Tank 3D) and possibly even allow cross-game chatting between players! The beauty of the system will be that statistics, servers, etc. will all be able to be run quickly and easily, and all with only one account registration, for multiple games. I am really looking forward to getting this system created, as I think it will be a great step forward for quality online games made with GM. Once all the functionality is in place, I will also add a place for people to apply to use the system. I think that for anyone looking to make a quality game that uses a common server system, this could be a great solution!

I'll be announcing more information about this as things come about. Anyway, I am at work right now, so I better get back to doing the things I do here… It's good to be back online though! I've got a few more examples planned for the immediate future, as well as some updates to Evolites, so stay tuned!

I think you need to hand out exclusive pre-release priority to 64D members.
