First blog post; What I was working on prior to joining

I am not a very experienced blogger, and I really hate blogging when I get no feedback. But, I can't get feedback if I don't share my projects. So here it is:

I am making a game called Apocalypse Run. I did not come up with the idea (I helped develop it), and I did not make the graphics. That credit belongs to my brother, Desttinghim. I only get the credit of programming the game.

Desttinghim and I started this venture a long time ago (since 09/26/2011). We started with Game maker. We made a first version, which restricted you to narrow paths. You could walk around, pick up boxes from boxes, and place those boxes in other boxes. We also made a shop that would let buy a weapon. You could shoot zombies that were wandering around, and spawning from a miniature city. That was all.

Now, I am writing the second version. It is written in java, and isn't restricted to paths. actually, now I want to add in paths to this version. How did I forget those… Anyway, so far, it has:

-The ability to walk around.

-The ability to read signs

-^That have ugly GUIs

I don't need the grid based movement, but we have always thought of the design like that. I don't know why, but that is just what we wanted. It might have something to do with the fact that we had just learned about the modulus operator. Very important in making a grid based game. There is also the fact the first idea for the game was a simple maze game. Heh, definitely not that anymore. I do agree that I'll need to resolve that issue. I never thought of it as a problem.

That was actually how you read signs at first, but I liked how had to look at it. I might make it that you have to be within a + shape. Thanks for the feedback!

Pretty cool. Though in your blog I'm not sure what you are looking for in terms of feedback.

Thanks for posting the source though! I have never developed games in java before. i'll take a look at it
