After much consideration, I have officially named this as 'devblog,' since 'devlog' didn't quite sound right, and 'developer journal,' while professional-sounding, was very clunky. But who really cares what the thing's called? On to the real subject….
I'm working on a game called Night Ops. As the banner implies, it's a multiplayer shooter, more specifically, a TDS. Click here for in-depth details. To sum up the main points, it's an online TDS that will hopefully be so efficient that even dialup users will be able to play. Gameplay will feature modern/futuristic weaponry, including about 30 guns, 7 types of grenades, and various military superpowers, such as artillery strikes and gunship raids. You start off with only 3 guns and one frag grenade per life, but by getting kills, capturing flags, and other accomplishments, you will earn credits which you can use to buy new guns, grenades, and various other equipment upgrades. So how far along is all of this? Well, take a look…
Click the thumbnails. As you can see, you can only fight bots so far. Multiplayer is still a ways off, but if all goes well (and it appears that it will), you'll be able to play a singleplayer demo before the end of the month. The purpose of this blog is to keep potential players updated on the game, and also for me to post things I've learned while making the game, plus other little things for developers.I'll do the first 'real' entry tomorrow. Enjoy your stay and keep an eye out for future updates. Any questions or comments so far?
Thanks, and I will!
