More Night Ops Progress

Today I have accomplished something monumental.

Well, maybe not really, but I've made the bots shoot at you and at each other. Now I can actually see a clear picture of what the gameplay will be like, and let me tell you, it's sweet.

It's extremely fast paced. This is not going to be a 'run out in the open and shoot in every direction to win' style game. No, you're pretty much dead if you don't have something to hide behind in a second's notice. Every player, even if they have the suckiest set of guns in the game, is a threat to you if they play smart.

I'm very close to releasing the demo. The bots still need to be smartened up a bit, the scoring system needs to be put in place, I need to polish up various other things, and add a basic menu. And that's it. Wow. I've never gotten this far on a serious project before!

And now for the bad part. I'm starting to think there's just something wrong with my computer, because the game will randomly go through these 5-minute-long periods in which the framerate crawls at 15 FPS. After it passes, it will suddenly jump back up to 60 and stay there for a while until the next drop. Why does it do this? I've checked into it with debug mode, and there's nothing abnormal going on during the drops. But, like I said, it might just be something with my computer. I've never tested the game on anyone else's computer yet. I'm just hoping this doesn't kill the game for everyone…

-PC Specs-

Processor: Pentium 4

RAM: 512

Graphics Card: Nvidia FX 5500 (yes, a PCI card is all I can get for this thing…)

The computer is 2 and a half years old and wasn't meant for gaming. Still, I don't understand why it's only slow during these intervals… It runs great the rest of the time…
