Out of overall enthusiasm...

So, I decided to actually make a blog 'cause I'm trying to figure out what to do. First off, I've been working on my game, The World's End for like 5 years now, and I'm starting to wonder if I'm ever going to finish it or not. Everytime I come close to finishing it, I add a shitload of stuff to it. I'm getting pissed because, I know the more stuff I add to it, the bigger the .exe gets and the .exe is almost 65 megabytes ALONE. With that mentioned, I'm afraid to update the graphics because that's going to make it worse. Yes I know about external file loading, but fact is I'm too lazy to do it. I REALLY want to update the graphics but let me get your opinion on them first.

Most of these are pics of the game's survival mode, I think one isn't though.

More pics:

So, what should I do? Should I update the graphics or are they good as they are? This is probably going to set me back a couple of years if I update them. Oh,and I've begun working on another game too, it's in its Early stages, I'd say that it's graphically my best looking game so far.

It looks better in-game though.

Any suggestions?

I don't know, if they look better in-game I can't tell you. But from the screens I would say definite update :C…yea bad news lol. But that's just my opinion. I'm a big graphics hog >_>

Yeah, I knew someone was going to say that >->, these pics are a few days old, I've already attempted to make them better, but they're not that big of a difference. On the other hand, why don't some of the pics show up on my screen? :|

Edit:It does look better in-game too, but it's not a big difference.

But that is the best part, when you are just about done but you keep on adding more and more to a game. It pretty much leaves you free to use what ever amount of creativity without having to build up a working game.

I love adding new stuff to the game, it's become a hobby :D, but I assure you I don't just add new stuff to the game and be done with it, I take my time out to polish it and make sure the game works, I must've beaten my games campaign over 50 times now, and my campaign is probably about 4-5 hours long. I pretty much made the game for myself, and that's what I like about it most, I tried to combine all of my favorite games like Gears of War and Halo into one game. But I put gameplay over graphics and many people tend not to like that, so… Yeah, guess I got to focus on graphics more too. :) This game is a learning experience for me, and trust me I learned alot of stuff along the way. ^_^

Wow it sounds exactly like what I did for two years on one game :P

When you are ready I'd like to try out your game, I love games that have time put into them.

Thanks, I can't guarantee you It will be available for you to play any time soon, but I'll try to upload it to the site when I can. I actually did upload the game to Yoyogames a while ago, but it's pretty old, and it's pretty crappy :P

Wow, I remember this project!

I'm jealous of how you can just stand doing that that long, cramming shit into that single game, thats awesome.

Sprites look good to me, its the back and tiles that aren't quite right. I'd actually like to see that same style from the characters worked into them, its nice.

Also ~5 hour campaign sounds fun, hopefully you release this eventually! :D

Thanks! :D

I'll see what I can do about the graphics.

Edit: I'll post a blog sometime tommorow explaining all the features of the game.
