we didn't even use the nether to get to it, we walked the whole way, looking for the stronghold. we ran into it by accident. that made it so much more amazing because we didn't know we were being led towards anything.when I found it I didn't recognise it, so I thought it was just some ruins that steve and the others had built for us to find. but slowly I noticed I was having a lot of deja vu, especially around Seleney'sholehouse. I suddenly noticed where we were and I was like.. oh my god, this isn't the ruins of just any town, this is OUR town, that sudden realisation made it so much better for me. I remembered that my house was built on a floating island, near the mountains across the river, so I thought my house may have survived the attack, but I just couldn't see it. I thought that was odd, so I explored to find that my house, and even the entire island it was on, and half the mountain behind it was completely gone. I remember walking around for an hour just going … woah, holy shit this is cool, over and over again.(my house would have been in the frame at 11:19, to the right, in that rather empty patch of skyline)finding that town is one of my best experiences ever in minecraft, along with watching Founton grow into the huge metropolis it was
