Why does everyone hate my RPG stuffs?

Posted by Requiem on June 3, 2006, 1:51 p.m.

Seriously, almost every comment I've heard so far is basically: "I hate it".

1) It's not like I took out the rest of the site's functionality to put it in there. I mean, the Badges use a LOT more server-power than those little stat bars.

2) To those who say it's useless: Well, duh, I just added it. Should we never have Member Points because they're useless right now?

3) I think someone commented that it was like those crappy RPG mods for some forums. I'd like to point out that those systems are usually placed in crappy forums. And you guys don't even know what I'm going to do with the thing yet. (Actually, neither do I. Any suggestions)

Now then, enough with the Rantjob of the Week. Time for something completely different:

Also, raise your hand if you like my new Recent Activity bar.

*whole world raises hand*

That's what I thought.

I'm already foreseeing the future.

Each of us gets about 65HP per month. Each blog entry costs 1HP. Each "front page" blog entry costs 2HP. They'll do this to limit our n00bish blogging habits.

Each of us gets about 300MP per month. Each comment we make costs 1MP.

Higher level = higher HP/MP.

Instead of a "warn system", mods can attack users' stats. A bad/stupid/one-liner will cause a mod to do a -10HP/-100MP attack on a user. Admins have more power; they can rain a -50HP/-200MP attack on a user!

Ph34r the future!

The Recently Activity bar is ugly. Why isn't it gray?

And turn off the music in your blog. It's distracting. Pfft.

You see, that would be stupid. We don't want to limit the amount of stuff members can to on 64d. Ever.

(Unless we get some REAL bandwidth problems)

I have to say, Mods attacking us for crappy posting is quite cool.

yeah, but I want to be able to defend myself with something better than a lame stick…

Jake, you should make it so that the RPG stuff is off by default. It'll make users less angry/confused, and new users won't be baffled by it, and get scared away.

Also, did Canadonian comment on the colour you used in the recent activity bar? =P

Oh, and run it through parse()

If people want to play a rpg, they will go and play one. People expect this to be a gamemaker site, not something with lame minigames everywhere.

The badges own, and make 64digits unique, a level system is quite funny too, but now we suddenly get loads of useless features that will only scare new users away.
