My contest entry alpha version

Hey guys! I've finally gotten enough of my game done to show you some alpha pics. I've been working pretty hard on this game and it's the most complete and polished game I'm actually making :O I've decided to name it Death's Brother for appropriate reasons (story)

So I'm about to tell you roughly the starting point of the story which won't be a spoiler since it's the beginning part:

It is the final day of October, and you being a secret task unit have been sent to infiltrate a mountain that has been showing strange signs since the sun went down. You will be dropped as close as possible to the mountain since our air units have been struck down by a suspiciously controlled lightning. We hope you can find the source of this commotion and eliminate it before it gets out of hands.

/end first part of (alpha)story

So I'm going to show you the first level with a zombie added in since they are no zombies in the first level ;( I know but they are hard to kill in packs especially if a boss is trying to kill you too…

So here is the first zombie with me shooting at it.

I love all the effects I've been able to put into this game such as the clouds in the background.

(You can't really tell from this still picture but the clouds are based on objects moving at different speeds which draw multiple clouds at random places, they also jump to the left side once they move to far to the right of the camera's view)

Here is the zombie exploding, it actually takes a little more than 9 shots to kill them.

I took a lot of time creating fake physics for the debris.

(each of those pieces of the zombie's body is a separate object that performs multiple collision checks and rotations; the zombie and main character's physics are based on a slightly modified version of this code)

The pumpkins are the first enemy I created. They don't move and you can shoot at them from a distance

When the pumpkins explode they leave some health and ammo power ups. These are displayed in the HUD in the top left as you may have noticed already. You can hold an infinite amount of ammo if you wish while your maximum hp is static.

Here is the pumpkin getting mad! :O

When they get mad they self destruct so make sure you jump over them or if you can't have some ammo to take them out at a safe distance other wise you will get hurt.

So that is pretty much a good show of the first level of the game. like I said the zombie was added and will not be in the first level, I only have it for demonstration.

um so…It's going to have voice overs since I managed to find a decent microphone yay!

hey, you do have a game after all.

looking pretty sweet i must say. your time spent on the debris seems to have paid off.

that looks pretty cool. it also looks somewhat what i was gonna make mine like lol. hopefully i make it much different than yours will be.
