Chastity programs? Who cares!

On Monday of this week, everyone in my grade who had a last name beginning with the letters A-M was to attend a chastity meeting, and on the following day people from N-Z were supposed to go. The meeting lasted from 6:30-8:30. Yes, two hours of bullshit. The worst part is that a parent had to be present.

Anyway, at one point in the program we were all to write a question on an index card and hand it in. My question was "Who cares?" because I obviously didn't want to be there. After handing them in, they allowed for us to have a snack break where they provided various drinks that were all very unpleasant tasting because they have been sitting out for quite some time. When "snack time" was over, they picked a few questions out of the pile of index cards.

They answered a few silly questions that were normal bawdy questions about sex. Then, suddenly, to my surprise, they picked my question. All they could come up with at the time is "You should care."

Two days later some friends of mine were talking at the lunch table about how last night (which would be Tuesday night, the day most of my friends were there), this one asshole flipped shit because of the question. I was curious as to what this guy had to say, because not much was said to me personally when I was there, so I asked them. Not everyone could remember exactly what it was he said, because he made a long speech, but he said something along the lines of "Parents, would you rather have your daughter dating a guy who cares about the dangers of sex or some guy who doesn't care!? Good luck finding a girl buddy."

I thought it was pretty funny. Personally I think that, if he had to go home and come up with something to say that it was a pretty good question. I just wish he would have said it while I was there so I could respond. I think I am going to do some research to see how much these chastity programs really are helping teens not to have sex. To stop kids from having sex before marriage is really taking away from the fun. No? And plus, everyone knows 3/4 of the kids on the team already have had intercourse. And also the kid didn't even answer my question. It is a clear sign of stupidity when someone attacks the person asking the question rather than the question itself.

What do you guys think?

Apparently sk8 is a punk. And plays a guitar with no strings.

It's a good fretboard. You should just add strings.

I never noticed that guitar never had strings.

Sex brought us here, why would anyone want to stop it?

Penn and Teller did a nice episode of "Bullshit!" on chastity programmes. Any such programme that does not involve the promotion of masturbation is bound to fail, I'm afraid, in the majority of cases.
