Stop changing my screen resolution!

I've been seeing WAY too many games that change my screen resolution to something like 640x480, or even lower.

This occasionally crashes my computer, if someone is stupid enough to set it at or below 640x480.

Why do people do it? I mean, what do you people think the fullscreen option is for? It's not like your game will look any different if you turn on the fullscreen mode, instead of actually changing my screen resolution. My monitor will still use the same number of pixels to display your game, so THERE'S ABSOLUTELY NO REASON FOR YOU TO DO IT!

ahem.

You'll hate my upcoming game then. I change the screen resolution to 320 X 240 :D

And I'm not doing that to be cute. I'm using pure pixelart for my graphics this time, and we all know that putting fullscreen blurs the image like a maniac, which goes against all rules and regulations for pixelart.

in lower resolutions games looks bigger. Changing your resolution to a low one is a way for not making the game look too small.

Because depnding on your resolution is how many pixels are showed per inch.

Using a lower resolution makes the game's pixels much sharper than using fullscreen.

Also, my monitor can't even GO to 320x240. I mean, it won't even try.

Hmmm… I suppose sharpness is a valid point for changing the screen res, but in that case, why not just draw the sprites at a larger size? That'd stop them from fuzzing up, and you could still make very small games :P

I get annoyed any time its set 640x480 or below

by 'draw the sprites at a larger size', I mean with the draw function, ie:

draw_sprite_ext(sprite_index,image_index,x,y,4,4,image_angle,c_white,1)
