[l56] avast!

It appears the avast! team made a mistake in recognizing "Win32:Delf-MZG" so I can't run any Game Maker game, PhotoFiltre Studio, or any applications that isn't registered in the avast! database. Genius. In other words I have to wait until the next update to do anything and it's pissing me off because I want my ideas out of my head and put to action.

You could just temporarily pause the standard shield when you start up the programs. It only blocks it when it first starts running. Or just keep it paused, and if your really worried about viruses or whatever turn off the internet.

I reported it as a false positive and I'm guessing a lot of other people have too so it will hopefully be unblocked by tomorrow.

I'm not much worried about viruses, I've been fine with the exception of the BIOS-level virus. I just can't wait until they fix their problem.

Well if you pause the standard shield it lets you run all the blocked programs and still keeps the other shields like web and network up so it's really only a minor annoyance unless your worried about running a dangerous program or something.

I've never had a firewall up, they annoy me.

It's fixed, you can force avast to update or wait for it the auto-update.

Which is why AV's are much more trouble than they're worth!

It's picking up the UPX exe compression being used by those applications. Nothing is actually infected, just identified as so.

Entertainingly, this is (As far as I can tell) the 5th time that avast! has started flagging UPX compression as a virus.

Actually Avast has gone mad lately flagging that and many other safe applications.
