Synth-Pop Instrumental (Need DAW)

Posted by leemcd56 on March 18, 2012, 6:19 p.m.

I'm arranging an instrumental version of The Birthday Massacre's "Violet", but I don't have the money for a DAW like Fruity Loops, and I know several people here on 64Digits have one. If you would like to help me, I have the first part up to the vocal entrance arranged, as you can hear below. If you haven't heard the original song, it's also below. The Birthday Massacre is a small synth-pop band with a large fan base, and an FYI, the band loves when people arrange or cover their music. When they first started, they even gave away their music for free.

TL;DR: Need DAW (Fruity Loops). Can't afford. Someone help? Going on YouTube when completely done, by the way. Note: I have relative pitch and worked really hard to get this right, so I'm willing to do the entire song and since it's easily segmented and instrument solos repeat frequently this shouldn't be hard to arrange. The fun part will be in the DAW and final mix. This was arranged by ear with the help of a good old chromatic tuner. If you don't believe me, look for the sheet music. Good luck. :P

LMMS doesn't support Mac though, unfortunately.

Oh, that's silly. I thought it would because of the open source-ness and the fact that it uses the cross-platform Qt framework… Oh well.

I could try and build it, but chances are it wouldn't work; someone else has bound to and it didn't, hence why it's not there. :<

I'm sure ImageLine won't mind if you download it illegally until you can afford it.

You shouldn't have wasted your money on a mac. Especially one with only 250GB. tsk tsk.

I love TBM sooo much. They're from "my" town. =D

MacBook Pro 64-bit with 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 8GB 1067 MHz DDR3 and only 250GB? I can easily dual-boot between any of the three major OSes, so I can't complain other than lack of space. :P

And I love them too :D most of their music anyways!

*narrows eyes* I won't mock your macbook, on account o' you like the birthday massacre. But NEXT TIME. *shakes fist*

I've actually only listened through their latest stuff maybe 20 times since it came out. :(

Violet is an amazing album though. Definitely in my top 50 albums. (I have thousands of albums that I listen to, so 50 is really high up there)
